Scion wood ad

Just a FYI - I got an e-mail from Cummins advertising their varieties of scion wood for grafting. They have the scion broken down into categories, one of which is "disease-resistant." There are lots of varieties on their website, for anyone looking for grafting material.

I'm not affiliated with Cummins. Just passing info along.

Little spendy for the small time grafter. Fedco and Maple Valley are other options and are both $5/scion
I thought the same thing

I wouldn’t ask them for something common I could get for free but they have a nice selection you won’t find elsewhere. $12 for a stick I can get 4-5 grafts out of isn’t bad. Especially when you consider I’ve bought a tree from them on rootstock I didn’t really want so I could graft it myself.

Maple Valley is four weeks behind on shipping my scion order. My rootstock can't wait that long.

If it hasn't arrived by now, I'd assume it won't be coming.

I just received mine from Maple Valley this past Wednesday. Was supposed to be shipped first week of March, but at least it came. I’m done with my benchgrafts, but just starting topworking for the season so I’ll use them out there. MV posted on Facebook a week or two ago that they were behind schedule due to weather.

I didn't order any scions from Cummins but I have seen people post pics of the scions that were sent out. Better to call them a branch as some I've seen are probably a couple feet long. Definitely changed my perspective on what you get for the price. Also I think they are having a sale for 50% off their scions.

Delay "due to weather" strikes me as odd. I planted alfalfa not far away from Maple Valley three weeks ago.

Cummins scions are at least twice as long as standard ones from anywhere else. I ordered a few earlier this season and they got them in the mail in a day or two.
