Reconyx Hyperfire 2

Bassattackr

5 year old buck +
Well after going through multiple brands and multiple camera failures, I've finally had it. Nothing more frustrating than putting out a new camera only to have it fail after 2 days. Bushnell, Moultree, Wildgame, etc - $100 camera is meant to be disposable. I'm lucky to get a season out of them.

So on a more positive note - I pulled the trigger on my first Reconyx, hopefully the first of more to come! My main priorities I was looking for are reliability and good night pictures. This camera seems to fit the bill. Anyone else use this camera and can share your experiences and setup preferences? Should arrive this week, looking forward to the first card pull!

Not trying at all to talk you out of the Reconyx - I have too many flooded and stolen to keep paying that kind of money. But, I have a bunch of Browning cameras four to six years old and only had one just quit on me. Just wondered if you Have you ever tried a $129 Browning? I have had a couple of reconyx and nothing but good luck out of them. But it does hurt more when they are stolen of flooded.

I have 4 Reconyx. 2 HC600 Hyperfires, 2 Hyperfire 2 cellular. They are the best of the best for cameras $600 and less. The HC600s are going on 4 years and not so much as a hiccup. Make sure you register your camera as soon as you get it.

So far the Hyperfire 2 cellular cams have been rock solid. The app is very basic but I am getting used to it and I know it’s reliable.

I also have a Browning spec ops Advantage. Top notch video the best I have ever seen. It was $189 but unfortunately deer hear something in the cam on video. I recently moved it to my big field to try it as a time lapse camera for 2 hours in the morning and 2 in the evening.

I don’t think you will ever be sorry you bought a Reconyx. Maybe just sorry that you didn’t do it sooner.

All good SwampCat, I already have one on order though. Haven't tried Browning, heard mixed reviews on them as well. Honestly, I think its the price point, you pay for what you get. I have a buddy that has one and likes it so far though FWIW. Every brand has "this is the best thing ever" and "worst thing ever" groups..

No flooding on the main farm I hunt. We are in the hills above the bottoms, only get those measily 130"-150" deer.

Great to hear! I will definitely register mine.

I think my second will be their cellular. I've got a small remote foodplot that it would be perfect for.

I have one Hyperfire 2 and quite a few HC600's. I like the 600's better. I'm 100% certain deer don't detect the 600's. The Hyperfire 2 has a high output flash that can be detected but per Reconyx if you set the flash to med output it performs just like the HC600's. Another note: I don't find the Hyperfire 2 set up menu very intuitive. It was hard to figure out how to change the flash to medium out put.

Really easy on the app. I’ve been running both on high output and haven’t noticed any deer looking directly at the camera yet with a few hundred photos. 37489619-B636-478F-AE76-1D6D670F7CBA.jpeg

Excellent. I just ordered a Hyperfire II Cell Cam.

I assume the app is for the cell cams only? Or is there some type of interface with the standard Hyperfire 2?

Correct, app is for the cell version.

I put out a new hyperfire 2 with a spypoint cell link since the cell version of the hyper 2 was on a 3 week waiting period. I stepped up because i had a spypoint evo that lasted 16 months($250) and have invested in the cuddelink system. The cuddelink system seems to work but for some reason just didn't perform well on the edge of the only food plot that routinely has deer...lol I have the different lens for the cuddelink but decided to get an American made product that has a great reputation.

I may regret not waiting for the hyperfire 2 cell but i will keep everyone updated on performance of the spypoint cell link paired with the hyperfire 2.

The spypoint cell camera worked for 3 days before the wire between the SD card and the connection to the spypoint quick working. When i opened the camera it was obvious of the pinch point. I did everything according to their recommendation but still cut the internal cord.

So now i'm returning everything and ordering a hyperfire 2 cell :)

Great concept but reliability is very suspect.

I set output to medium this past fall, and out of a couple thousand photos - didn't have a single buck looking directly into the camera. Great tip!

anyone having issues logging into the mobile app? I've changed my password, uninstalled and reinstalled and still telling my my password is incorrect
