Reconyx Cellular

So the app gets the instant fuzzy pictures but then stores the actual "good quality" picture on the SD card - correct?

Is there any way to get the full quality photo via app or email?

Considering adding one of these.. thanks!

I wouldn’t call it instant fuzzy pictures. You get thumbnails that are decent quality and you can request full HD images if there is something you want a better look at. 397123B2-379B-4357-8CF1-ABCDE1B4BB26.jpeg

Oh wow, OK I agree. Those are fantastic. Thanks Rit.

Good to know the extra $5/month isn't a "requirement."

The extra $5 a month for “real time access” is definitely not required. As Ritt mentions, it’ll send you decent quality picture and if you want a better look you can have it send you the full HD picture, that just uses more of your data block (like most cameras). To answer your other question, yes, the pictures are stored on the SD card so you’ll have access to all of the full resolution pictures whenever you swap cards.

I think I just found my next camera..

Any fix yet for the app not saving username and password?

I haven’t had any issue with my app not saving my username or password; I’m running latest updated sufteare on iPhone 10 pro. Have you checked with Reconyx?

No just set it up this evening but have to enter username and password every time I open the app.

It's letting me in by 1 clicking sign in with Google though, so that's not terrible. Btw how are your cams working with the hme solar?

Looks like you’re using a Samsung? Maybe a setting thing in the phone or app? I would check with Reconyx...they’re quick with support. You’ll probably get Joe if you call, he’s always been

They’re not yet. I have to require all of the HME boxes because they’re wired with the wrong adapter for the Reconyx cameras. Reconyx sent me cables to use, but I am only halfway through rewiring them. I’m just running lithium batteries I’m the cameras until then.

Gotcha. Well let me know how it goes. I'll get with them on the log in.

Got the 1st deer picture this am, deer is a little bit out from the cam maybe 10-15 yards, but the pic quality seems a lot worse than my spartans. Need more pics to compare, but it has me nervous.

Anyone being nervous with a Reconyx product is both unwarranted and plain silly.

In this case you'd be wrong. I love Reconyx and have 17 Hyperfire 2's but this pic quality without requesting HD is not good. My Spartan and Tactacam look better. As I said it's the 1st pic so we shall see. Even the logo/time/date are blurry. MBL_0024_47504538189950.jpg

The standard picture quality on my 6 Reconyx cell is very similar to that on my two Spartan GoCams. I can see more than enough to tell if I need to request a high resolution photo, which is the same with Spartan.

I'm hoping it was just a bad photo, I have 4 spartans on my cell plan so I've requested a ton of HD since they're unlimited but I feel like there isn't much of a difference from standard to HD on Spartan. Trust me I want these to be better, trigger is definitely better, but I just went and compared clarity between that and some spartan pics @ roughly the same distance and its not close.

Could it have anything to do with signal? Its showing -75 currently.

You could always go buy 6 Tactacams if it’s keeping you up at night. Of course 12 months from now I suspect none of them will be working. Looks like your resolution is set to wide for a deer that seems to be a good distance off. You may want to toy with that a bit. I’ve been wrong plenty why stop now?

Or you could just offer suggestions instead of insinuating I don't know what I'm talking about from the get go(anyone questioning reconyx....)just an idea. I don't think there's any question that photo is very poor, it was just surprising to me since its a $600 camera. It does make sense business wise that they're going to get you to pay for the instant access to get instant hd and ultimately pay for more pics with them counting for 10. So are you saying that the wide view is going to be a poorer pic quality because of size etc?

Signal has nothing to do with photo quality. That simply is a means of data transmission. It may effect transmission times of say a high def photo. -75 isn’t terrible -51 ish would be a great signal and -75 lies somewhere in the middle. I don’t suspect you will have any issues until you get around -83. Another thing none of the data bands are all that impressive I can read them and that’s enough. Remember these are thumbnails. They are small on my phone. If I turn my phone they become full screen which helps a bit.

Btw that's exactly what I'm expecting from tactacam, just thought I'd give em a whirl.
