Plum jelly

The plums are ripe nd we picked a bunch. Ive got them on the stove so I can extract juice. Anyone else make plum jelly? This is a family affair as my kids love picking them.

Yours are a bit farther along than ours. One of my Grandmas used to make plum and chokecherry jellies.

Great grandma would make sandplum jelly. This juice is a brilliant pink.

My wife’s aunt does, we collect it, she makes a bunch and gives us plenty. Great stuff

It hadnt set up well this morning. Everything I read says 24 to 48 hours for best results. Hope they are right.

Probably could still use if for "syrup" on ice cream, pancakes, etc...

I've eaten many jars of that stuff in my lifetime. It never get's old... and it away's reminds me of mom and grandmother.

Can I get a recipe from someone? The neighbor has an entire hedge of plums, and he said i could help myself.

Can i use plums off the ground if they are not rotten?

Here is what we used. I know how we went wrong the first time. We did use ripe plums on the ground that hadnt rotted. It tastes delicious. Wife wouldnt stnad for syrup so is fixing the batch as we speak.

We have Chickasaw and Mexican plums down here. The Chickasaw plums are over by the end of May, and the mexican plums have been done with for a few weeks.
The wife and I made some jelly last year from the Chickasaws. We made some grape jelly a couple weeks ago from some wild Mustang grapes, but I forgot to photograph it... I love foraging, and always have a fold up, waxed canvas hip bag on me when I’m scouting or hunting.
