Plot log

Don't give up. Brassica and rye will grow just fine without the buckwheat thatch.
Good to hear. I got 100 lb of rye for 2 acres but only got 3lb of brassica as a test run. This has been a learning exp for sure. Still waiting on my soil test results. I assume I'll need a lot of lime to help for next year

See rate sounds about right. Although some may say you can double that rye.

Still no rain. We are at 6/10ths for the entire month. And none the last week of July either. Took my uncle to see the place and ran by the field. Very barren but a few of the buckwheat stalks had some flowers on them. Hope the rains come this weekend after the Gulf storms come in and I get some new life out of the buckwheat. Rye, brassica, and RC go in this weekend.

I will be putting in WR 100# a brassica blend 3# and RC 30# on the 2 acres that I have. Rain expected from the tropical storm Laura hitting the cost tomorrow. If things go well I'll broadcast the CR in front of 2 other stands I did not plan on don't but the RC came free and I got 100# of it. I'll broadcast then mow e the brush hog and roll it with the lawn roller

My rescue rye, radish, and red clover went on today. Intellicast says we have an 80% chance tomorrow night, predicting .19" Other than that, weather channel dot com says no rain in the next 15 days. If the food plots don't pan out, I'll have to get my hunt on! lol Back to old school creek crossings or deer pushes.

I'm right on the edge of where they are calling for the rain. Anything north of beardstown area is a crap shoot

Rye, clover, and brassica down today. Didn't get the grass mowed where some of the clover went, I'll go back tomorrow and finish the mowing. 4 days of rain is now 1 day at 40% but it had too be done

I feel your pain. They kept bouncing us between 60-80% all day yesterday and it never rained a drop within 150 miles of us! Looks like a tiny chance Tues but otherwise the next 2 weeks looks like the flash drought carries on.

Amen brother. I'm pretty close to buying a few chickens and googling "how to do voodoo" at this point. Desperate for rain.

Calling for rain Tuesday and Thursday around me, so got some mowing done. I have one more area that I plan to mow after another bag of rye gets in.

You are now my rain brother. 60% chance tomorrow got the seed down Sat and mowed yesterday. Good luck with the sky water my friend.

Good luck! Intellicast gives us 80% tomorrow but Weatherbug only a 50%. Bug follows the Euro model I think and is usually more accurate IMO. Need my seed to find the moisture.

doves are in and it rained for 4 hours
50# more of rye going down this weekend on a few spots that wasnt planned calling for more rain next tue as well

Up by Rt 80. So I was gone for a few days on a little family trip up on Green Bay. I guess we got about .4 out of that rain. I looked yesterday and the rye was still firm and laying on top, but none had sprouted. I think I'll throw another couple bags down, with 4 straight days of rain in the forecast starting tomorrow.

I have another 50# going down today at the spots I mowed. And 200# lime to go on the field with the rain coming. I put some of the clover down in my yard tue or Wed and I have little baby clovers coming up. So,I'm hoping it has sprouted at the farm as well.

Two areas I mowed and put the clover didn't have any visible clover coming up. The field has lots of clover coming in and I saw several shoots of rye. The horse nettle has come back with a vengeance but it doesn't bother me. Put down 200# lime but no fert. That is prob the last field work I'll do until we are done hunting.

I did not I think it was worth starting a new thread but we've had no rain 8 almost 9 weeks and now 2 days away from season it's rained 2 days in a row with more in the forecast for opening weekend. mother nature can eat a &!#$

Finally got rain. Clover and rye are barely viable/visible. Brassica was a total loss. Try again next year I suppose. Neighbor's corn field caught fire
