Lots of trail cam interest and posts lately. Some of it seems to get lost after a few weeks. This should keep it easier to find things related to trail cams.

I’ll be moving some threads over soon.

Great idea Bill.

Thank you

Not a bad idea. Chasinggame used to be the independent review place and they attracted a lot of the trail cam forum traffic. In late 2017 they began selling Ridgetec Outdoors camera products. I wonder if that is why Cuddeback moved their support type threads over here. This forum is a free resource that has an independent flavor compared to a corporate site forum. It serves as an advertising vehicle of sorts. I wonder if more trail camera traffic will move over here now that Anthony has more monetized his investment in the Chasinggame forum.

Thanks,

Jack

cuddeback didnt move their support threads here, i was a member of the old Qdma forums and used it daily, when that went down i found this forum thru a member and starting using it. A member i didnt know started the thread on cuddelink and since i rep for them (among other brands) i started answering questions with full disclosure to help members. Cuddeback doesnt pay me a dime for monitoring or answering any question on these threads. In fact im the only person with any connection to cuddeback who is on here (other than when Mark Cuddeback answered a couple questions years ago) I do it because i like the members, topics and frequent this forum daily to learn and im glad to contribute how i can just as other members have helped me with many questions on this forum.

We have a cuddeback dealer, you, who has several thread offering a lot of cuddeback support and advocacy. I've seen a lot less Cuddeback and other manufacture driven threads on CG since they made the change. As I recall, the first thread had input from actual cuddeback folks, not just a dealer.

Don't get me wrong. I don't think this is a bad thing. There are lots of users of this forum that benefit from these threads including me (even though I'm not using the Cuddeback system). As long as this form continues to allow criticism of commercial products that sales folks are touting, I think it is a great thing. Potential users get the spin from the sellers who, like you, have disclosed their relationships with the brand. And they get to see both positive and negative feedback from hands-on users which allows them to make a better buying decision.

I wasn't criticizing your or cuddeback folks with my comment. I was simply speculating the additional trail camera traffic may be a function of the changes at Chasingame. There seem to be fewer and fewer places where folks can get independent unfiltered feed back from actual users verses the fake reviews. I'm guessing that as Chasingame has changed to be less of an independent source, their forum users are slowly beginning to look elsewhere for a forum.

I think a trail camera forum would be a good thing here. Lots of folks here are highly experienced with trail cameras and the underlying technology.

Thanks,

Jack

Just to be clear so there isn’t any confusion amongst the members here - I’m not a dealer , im one of the sales rep in wi . There is a difference . I don’t push anyone to a specific retailer unless I’m asked for recommendations via pm. mark cuddeback himself is the only employee that has commented on any of these threads other than myself with a connection to the company and that was 2 years ago.
regarding chasing game , cuddeback never participated on that site at any level, rep , dealer , factory employee etc . And they were far from independent ...although they did portray that in the beginning , anyone in the industry knew the real story there. That said , there was some good information there but also plenty of misinformation as well.

Potato potato, tomato tomato...let's call the whole thing off. Bottom line - Vested Interest.

I’m happy to have anyone who wants to help our members and visitors from anywhere. I didn’t read chasing game much. It always seeded like a top Doc magazine that I was reading in my docs office and he was in it :emoji_thinking:

As for HT, it will stay independent. All are welcome and I won’t take sides, unless things get in the dirt. But that’s not something I’ve seen.

I personally have, but am new to, the cuddlelink system and run the buckeye system. “Different deals for now” but I stay out of it. I Don’t think as the admin I should influence anything. It’s much better that guys using theses things share experiences.

But no one has offered us a $million to to talk nice :emoji_stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: and I doubt they will.

Whatever happened to Cuddeback's own forum they had a link to right on their website? I was there quite awhile, then was gone for a bit and came back to it saying it was closed- to go to Facebook instead. Checked some time later and it was back up. Now for awhile it's been gone again.

The cost and effort needed to Maintain the forum was not equal to the usage. Social media has completely changed the climate regarding independent forums . This forum is an anomaly.

I wondered about that. That and let’s face it we’re not selling anything here. If I have to delete a ranting by some nut job, oh well. I would think a manufacturer would be accused of controlling the narrative.

I wouldn’t have an open forum if I were selling something. To many things could go south.

In the old days many manufacturers had their own forums. They were not generally used by folks to get objective pre-purchase information, but more to get post-purchase questions answered. Most manufacturers have turned to more private forms of communications with their customers so potential buyers see less of the flaws.

I like having company reps and such post here as long as they disclose their relationships. Several got caught posing as end-users back in the day on the CG forum. When reps disclose their relationships, users can weight their claims accordingly but still benefit from the technical information provided. Sites like this without ads are rare. Kudos to Habitat Talk and guys like you who donate you time as moderators/admins.

Thanks,

Jack
