New Project

Nice wish I could fill my ponds like that I’ve got a couple that normally have fish that I’m getting genuinely worried about loosing the fish do to lack of water.

Over at our other farm in the front pond we have lost some of our big large mouth bass from low water level and I guess low oxygen.

Beautiful pond! Looks like all the hard work has paid off.

Such a cool project! Love the go-big approac.

Wow, that is a really nice pond. Great work!

Looks great H20!! Good times ahead.

Trying out a little ice fishing today. Ice is over 6” deep. Easy fishing, all catch and release this year.

They have caught dozens so far.

Few more pics, it was just crazy. Nice big fatty perch. Saw a small schools of red ears but they snubbed the jigs, also saw some big shiners and a few big crappie. No walleye came by the camera. Lots of fun.

Those perch are chunky. It will be interesting to see how big they can get in your pond. I've heard of perch in the 15"+ range on the Mississippi River near our area, but I've never caught one that big yet.

I think some are the jumbo variety so hopefully they get xtra big, they are still not two years old yet. We feed in summer most mornings and evenings by hand off the dock. But they quit coming up a couple months ago when it started getting cold.
About all of them we caught were around the big rock pile we put in so that must be good winter habitat. I was surprised how clear the water was using the camera in around 18’ of water.

That's one of the benefits of winter. Visibility tends to be really good. The algae has died off due to low sunlight, and the cold temperature causes suspended particles to drop to the bottom like cold crashing a beer.

Just went out with my oldest son to look at the perch. All nice ones, fast action fished same spot. Ice 7” thick now.

And this big one, legit 12”…biggest perch I’ve ever seen in person in my life.

A 12" from your pond already??!

Dang that's pretty bad arse. You're writing the book on how to get a pond built and established.

I think I’m more like Forest Gump and just dumb lucking into it!

A 12" perch is impressive, especially considering the fish are still young. They clearly have some great food there.
