Name this tree...

chaded

5 year old buck +
Figured someone here would know. This tree is about 18” diameter and has blue berries on it. I confirmed today the berries are what I would imagine eating a battery tastes like.

Thanks!

I'd name it..."Bob".....looks like a "Bob".... Yep,...Bob!

"Black Gum"? What a dumb name for a tree....not very personalized!

Hey, Bill beat you to it So he decides.

I don't have a lot of use for black gum but the berries are supposed to be high in fat and enjoyed by birds. Nice red leaves in the fall too.

I'll comprimise.....call them "black gum" in general.....but the one you took a picture of......that one....that one's name is BOB!

Black Gum is the premier licking branch tree in my area. Nothing else comes close.

really? Interesting. I always saw them working an oak branch.

We cut the schneikes out of the black gum in the sanctuary 2 years ago. Lot of big mature trees without any real timber value, so we opened up the canopy and got blocking pricing out of them.

Yes, I'm serious. If you ever have one at a prime licking branch site, put a camera on it.

Yep, I agree. Black gum
