Troubles Trees

5 year old buck +
I have 2 treestands that are awesome pinch points and always produce great results during the rut in particular. The problem is by the time the rut hits the trees are barren of leaves and I stick out like a **** at a church picnic. I have gotten busted there so many times in the past I have learned to only hunt them when the leaves are still on the trees. I have gotten crafty in the past and brushed them in with evergreen branches in the past but they brown fast and are useless rather quickly. I have even gone as far as bringing in my Dewalt cordless and drilled holes in the tree to stick artificial Christmas tree branches in. They never cooperate and spin to the flat side or fall out of the holes on a windy day.
Failure is one thing I am very familiar with, but I am determined (or stubborn, you decide). 3 years ago I brought this idea to a friend that is a machinist hoping he could fabricate a small screw-in branch holder of the sorts, the idea was similar to the first picture. He still has the parts I gave him and never did anything with them :(
So I’m on a new design idea with a work friend (my welding looks like a 12 year old did it) if he gets freed up tonight to work on this. I have looked many times to find a product that is already manufactured to just buy them but to no avail. Ideally it would hold multiple branches similar to the other pictures, and have the ability to remove the branches and leave the holder on the tree to minimize damage to the tree every year.
Maybe I’m just nuts, maybe there is something already produced that I couldn’t find so I figured I’d throw it out here to see what you all would do with this concept.

I just use tie wraps to secure the branches where I want them. If there are no available branches where I want to add artificial branches I install new branches on the tree if I can do so without damage. If it’s a special place where I want to hunt and the above doesn’t work I will put a run of chicken wire around the tree trunk then add branches I cut off other trees and attach the fake branches to that. A lot of times the weight of the branch pushed into the chicken wire is all that is needed to secure it in place.

That is a great idea bud, very similar but different.

I used the welder at work to give this a try, using 1/2 black iron pipe, drilled a hole then welded nuts to the pipe and 1/4-20 bolts to secure them.

Ever look into something like this???? I would think you could mount to the tree or even your stand if you wanted.

I have pulled small trees up into my stand locations before to give me some back cover. Big thing is being able to do it early so the deer don't freak out about a big blob up in the tree. I have also used pieces of PVC pipe and ratchet straps to act as branch holders as well.

You could also look into some of the military type netting and the like for a larger area.

Where there is a will...there is a way....

I looked this up a couple years ago and just did again in case things changed, they are no longer in production unfortunately. Their website's last update was 2012, there is a link on the website for their Facebook page but that no longer exists either. There isn't anything on Ebay or Amazon either using a few different searches but that is ideally what I want!
In the past I have done the same with pulling small trees and tying them to mine for cover and that works too!
I have found somethings like this but not quite the same effect. If you look at the bottom and click around the other things you will find branches and branch holders but the only other one I see has to be mounted to your treestand.

I’ve used cedar limbs and pipe hangers from Home Depot. Cedar will keep its needles all season.

So it sounds like it is fair to say that most of us hunters could use a product similar to what I made above? Hmmmm lol
I shall call my new product Troubles Trees hahaaaa!!

This will hold branches on trees:

.....Are you a "naked" hunter?......"do you stick out like a turd in a punch bowl?"..... You need "port-a-bush"!!! Some folks like a little, some folks like a lot....whatever you need it's up to you. That's right you just use as much bush as makes you happy. Doesn't matter if you have a big hunter or a little one....with enough bush you can hide almost any hunter! Water resistant and can be shaped and configured however you like as well...use your imagination!

Hahaaaa!! I laughed all the way through that :emoji_laughing:

Ameristep used to make a product called Branch Brackets that you could attach to the tree or your stand and then cut branches to fit into them.

Flag holders could probably substitute
