My Son Wanted some Technology for his 11th Birthday....

That is awesome Natty, good parenting right there bud!!
I wish I had a boy... so I tried to convert my daughter into a Tomboy lol She likes to help Dad with things without me asking but she didn't take to fixing things like this as I was hoping but she took to the outdoors like hiking, climbing trees, fishing and hunting so I am content with that.

That's great. My dad brought home a relic ski doo when i was about 13. Somehow the thing popped off and I couldn't have been happier if it had been brand new. Those were good memories.

I love it!!!

One big cylinder, one spark plug. A carburetor and a baked bean can air filter.
Gotta love the belt safety enclosure.
Old school is good school. If I had to start today on a ricer with a computer I’d go back in the house and play a video game.

Thanks Troubled Trees! Got to raise 'em right. I have a girl too and they are tougher than boys I think, especially in this day and age. Good job with your daughter.

Got to love the carb! If you get to close on a ride it will suck your pants or parka in and stall you out!

Thought I'd bring this one back to the top with an update.

My kid worked on his sled all summer...cosmetics, rust, brakes, hole in the gas tank, carb issues. Got it all back together about a month ago in time for our first light snow. My wife also gave me the green light to find one for myself so I could go with him. Being a JD guy, I found a 1973 JD 300 up in Vermont. Starts (electric), runs, drives, and...well, brakes are nonexistent. But who needs brakes? Lights all work.

Never owned vintage sleds before. I can see where these become a little addicting.

What an awesome restoration job that young man did! Hats off to him for the hard work, that smile says it all my friend!

HOW AWESOME THIS IS!

Brings back memories from when I was a kid. I worked on my uncle's farm all thru junior and high school. He was big into snowmobiling. I always rode a John Deere JDX. Great fun!

Does bring back memories. Had a friend that got a new John Deere spitfire. Sometime around 1977-78
