Muck repair?

Tap

5 year old buck +
I tore a short gash in the instep of my Muck boots with an antler while dragging. Its in the top of the rubber bottom, not the neoprene.
Can I patch them with something that will last? Innertube patch??

Not saying it will work but....I found a flexible sealant that will seal a wet surface. Like it can be raining in and this stuff will stick and seal it. It's called "Lexel" comes in a tube like caulk. Previous owner of our place ran wires through PVC out of the crawl space. Downward angle into the crawl space. Every time it rained that thing turned into a faucet dumping water in.

I used this stuff wet a year ago and it hasn't failed. It's still squishy so I know it has some flex. Worth a shot but I'm not promising....

There is a product called "Shoe Goo" that I use all the time for boot and shoe repair. It is very tough and flexible when dry. You can get it at Wal Mart.

I have some Show Goo. I've used the stuff for years, but mostly used it for re-gluing the soles when they start to come off.
I wan't sure how the stuff would work on a boot tear. Seems to me that some sort of patch over the tear would be needed, that's why I wondered about an inner tube patch for bicycle tires. Maybe I need to go take a picture....

Im not a huge fan of Mucks...the calf section isn't large enough for my legs and I think the neoprene probably retains odor more so than rubber does. But I DO like the extendable tops of these. They're nice for crossing creeks. Muck doesn't make them anymore so if they are fixable, I'd like to save them.
I least I tore them while dragging a 200 lb buck! Not a total loss

Cabelas used to sell a wader repair sealant, would turn into a hard resin. Had to keep it in the freezer after opening to keep it from getting hard. Worked good on mucks. Not sure what it was called.

Have used a tube of stuff called aquaseal in the past to repair waders. They sell it at lots of places like sporting goods stores, walmart, etc. Best if you gunk up a layer and cover with a patch which they sell too but a trick from the oldtimers was to bum a pair old worn out nylons from the wife or girlfriend and cut out a couple of patches and layer on top of each other with enough goop kinda like wetting out fiberglass. Would flex decent and still hold up well on the knees of waders.

I have used shoe goo with great results. I have used for cracks on bike tires with similar results

I was going to suggest an RV rubber roof emergency repair kit. Similar to your inner tube idea. They make small kits that come with a small piece of rubber and the surface prep materials. But I think something like inner tube is a better idea...more flexible. The key will be surface prep. I think whatever you use, inner tube or RV roof patch, cleaning the surface of the boot to get a good bond between the boot and the patch will make or break the repair.

Ive fixed muck soles with shoe goo. Just slop it on thick
