Lost and found

5 year old buck +
I found a trail camera that I set out, my guess 5+ years ago, and must have forgot about. To bad I didn’t bring a card reader to check to see what is on the card. I know this isn’t the first time I have forgotten about game cameras I set out.

So did you take it home? Wonder if it still works. Usually the times I'd leave 1 sit for a long time, turns out I'd forget to reformat the card or turn the unit back or something.

I have a couple still out there that I never could remember or find them again. Private land, so I know they are still there, but when you can't remember where they are they are really hard to find. I have since started putting the location of everyone of them in my phone.

I can't say I have ever lost one.....I have plenty of pics and videos of me looking like a fool trying to find it, thought. "Where is that $%#&ing thing? I know it's around here somewhere!" The old school ones with an actual camera in it and the lantern batteries was like hanging a suitcase on a tree....tough to loose on of those. You take Stevie Wonder with you and Stevie be like, "I just called...to say....I found it!" The new ones....with the camo and with how small some of them are.....I could certainly see loosing one....especially a well hidden one.

mine get hung in the same locations every year.

I did take it home, it wouldnt read the SD card, I am not sure if it is a different format from 5 years ago, or if the moister that was around the card wrecked it, but I think it will remain a mystery, probably had sasquatch on it!

5 years out in the moisture and the like I would expect all the contacts and the like to be corroded and such. I would suspect that the batteries would have leaked or the like as well. Heck....I spend ONE night out camping in the moisture and the like.....my contacts and parts don't seem to work right either. Depending on the cam (I use cheap ones) I get about 2 years use out of them generally....so mine would have been toast a long time ago! Or chewed to death by the squirrels....not sure why they think my cams are chew toys.

I believe it is a Moultrie M80. I use to run a quite a few of them back in the day. The batteries didnt leak at all, I was surprised, but the lens was soaked, and the SD card was swelled up, and had a lot of green on the contacts.
