Looking for a Battery Trickle charger

Tree Spud

5 year old buck +
I need a battery trickle charger for my ATV & lawnmower. They both have electronics that continuously draw energy.

Any recommendations?

I have been using maintainers a long time, and the one's that have worked the best for me have been the , Battery tender,'s made by made by Deltron, and most of mine are the battery tender Junior's model,

Over the decades now, I have used them and all have lasted, and kept battery's lasting and fully charged problem free!

I have tried a few other brands, , and they didn;'t hold up to being exposed to weather like the battery tender one's have, or just failed in a few yrs!

as a Fact, I tried a shuchmacker brand one, and it not only didn't last, it went nuts, was less than a month old when it decided to over charge my skid steers battery causing almost 2 grand in electronic damage(not a happy camper on that one )

when I contacted them, due to it was well under warranty, they at first stood by there product claiming they would cover damages, started a case with me, gave me a case number and then, after that, they stopped talking to me, , never replied to any calls or emails or?? so they simply refused to talk to me after that!,
so, for me, I won't recommend there products at all, cost me way more $$ and down time,I could have bought a new battery every yr for long time before costing what that BAD tender did, and I don't l;ike company's that don't stand behind there product, or have terrible customer service as they show me they have!

NOW, I will admit , all my tenders are the single unit models, and not a multi bank set up, due to most of my things are parked too far apart or in different buildings

but I have a few farmer friends that have a LOT of equipment parked close and they have been switching over to these NOCO Genius multi bank tenders, due to how well they seem to work and options on, there not cheap, ad I do know that Battery Tender, also has multi bank units now, too, so, that could be a worth while option, due to how well of a track record they have on single units IMO

battery tender JR's are rather low priced and found all over, so they get my vote , if you only need 1 or 2 tenders, , if I had a lot of things ,and could use a multi bank units I think I would try one of them from Noco, as my friends have now, but for me, all my things are just too far apart to need one for now any how LOL

also, another possible idea, for you, pending where and how often you use your atv/lawn mower, is adding a battery disconnect, this way when parked you can just shut power down at battery, so no drain happens

I use the same:

Battery Tender Junior

I keep one on my ATV, lawn mower, my wife's Vespa, and my son's small ATV. They do just what they are advertised to do. I am happy with them.

Just be sure you get a maintainer or tender. If you get a straight charger (even just 1 amp), it will slowly cook your battery to death. Ask me how I know?:emoji_triumph:

I am glad my lawnmower and atv don't constantly draw. Are yours supposed to? Re,member that putting a cutoff switch on anything that has a computer such as newer vehicle will shut it down also unless you wire in behind computer and only hook add on items to it

I've used a battery tender for years.

I used a Battery Tender for years. It worked well, but I decided to try out the CTEK after doing quite a bit of research. I've have it since 2019 and haven't had any issues at all. It's usually rotated through motorcycles, atv's and it's actually hooked up to my dual battery F350 right now. Very versatile.

Thanks guys for all the good input. I went with a couple of Battery Tender Plus maintainer & charger. I like that is also had a quick disconnect cable where i could hard wire the cable to the battery and not have to use clips.

YEs most tenders use a 2 SAE plug that can be hard wired to the battery, leabing a easy quick plug in to connect to charger
MY advice is, however, when doing this, make sure you use a pigtail for battery side that also has a inline fuse, so if anything ever happens to things your more protected, than just relying on the charger to stop itself!
something like these are what I use!

and just so you know there are all soprts of add on that also use these plugs for power, like cig lighter plugs, cell phone chargers, and many other things,
so having it hard wired to the battery, opens up other uses besides just for a charger!

Heck, I had my ATv spray set up to use the plug as a power source! worked great too, fast on off deal for it for me!
