Live from the stand thread

Isn’t that the truth. First time, I forget all the stuff I should have.

And that has included my release when I took a compound.
I once walked 400 yards down an embankment to a creek bottom and then realized I left the bolt to my gun in the case

We are ML hunting tomorrow morning. I like our forecasted wind of 12 mph for two reasons. First, it is enough to drown our sound at least some while entering through a bean field. Second, it will be taking our scent to the south over a bluff and not into the areas we expect deer.

20 degree temp swing. I Only saw a little gray fox but the boy did a nice doe in. Dad had a little 6 in shooting range but hit his stand with his bow.

Chuck and I are at Pine Tree WMA for the muzzle loader hunt.
Two years ago he shot the spots off a monster fawn.
I've insisted on calmer emotions today.
I'd send a pic, but no such luck with the service here.
I'm 20yds inside the woods with a soybean field outside them. On a low ridge of white oaks with swampy ground all around.

Went to one of my favorite stands Saturday morning. I have no signal so can't post live from the stand. Another stupid south wind but I was hoping to catch a buck sneaking up along the creek bottom. I was hoping it would be just enough of an off wind that they wouldn't smell me and if they came out the trail from the plot I could shoot before they got to my scent. But it was the first skunk of the season for me. Cold front didn't come in until Sunday.

Not me but on my land in NJ. A buddy of mine decided to "work remotely" today since a cold front blew in last night. Real good buck for this neighborhood.

Thats a real nice buck in any neighborhood I've been in!
Congrats to your buddy!

Had my hunting buddy out tonight. And we finally saw some deer. The first time I've ever kept him quiet enough to see something haha.

From an old dad, to a “cool dad”. Enjoy the heck out of that! It won’t be tomorrow, but it will seem like it when he says, dad……

“two of us smell more than one of us”.

that’s what my son said when he wanted to go alone.

Which is still a good day. Just enjoy yours.

1st decent frost on volunteer soybeans. Truck reads 32 at 6:15 am. Peru IL. Hope to start deer hunting after the coming rainout.

Sat out yesterday am & pm with the cold front coming in. When I got to stand it was 28 deg F. Activity a bit low, saw 10-12 does, but several bucks were chasing does already. Stand is down near creek bottoms, can only us when we have a N wind which we did.

There were 7 good active scraps in this area, 3 below this massive white oak, and another 9 on this 0.4 mile walk in. Beautiful morning & afternoon sits.
