Live from the stand thread

Well the big boy got shot on the adjoining farm this morn. I knew the deer for 4 years and have found 3 sets of his sheds. Think I'm going head out and spend the weekend with my family.
Hate that. I still have 2 that I know running around here I'm in stand until dark or the raincomes. Whatever happens first. Wife is making prime rib for deer camp so leaving wont feel to bad

Bummer

Moderate amount of shots being fired around the neighborhood but none on my place...yet.

I think you predicted that when you let them walk during bow season.
Yep, should've put one in the freezer a couple weeks ago

Cousin missed a big doe, buddy killed a young 10 prob 120ish 2 maybe 2.5 years old. He had green light to kill whatever he wanted. I saw a doe being trailed by a buck at 190 yards looked like a shooter threw a grunt at him but didn't even look my way.
Shot this thing at 420 right as the rain started. Good thing he hit the heart still got 80 yards with the bottom of his heart gone.

1 shot heard so far today. Deer are not moving where I'm at. Looks like it's going to be low numbers for the IL opener. Or at least locally.

Passed up a buck. Pretty mature. Hope I don't regret it but just not what I'm looking for this year. He worked his tail off for 90 minutes to prevent his doe from getting into a little piece of woods.
