Live from the stand thread

Thanks so much everyone for the great comments. I will update my habitat thread with more pics and the story ASAP - hopefully tonight but tomorrow for sure. Two different scorers have measured his net typical score the same, so he is going to be a Boone and Crocket, even with a little shrinkage from drying. His gross score is 186+ and his net typical score is 174+. He had 14 scorable points and was a mainframe 12.

Take a 2x4 and wedge it beetween it’s antlers like you would measure it’s inside spread

Well done sir ... would like to know more on the story between you and him. These great beasts don't come easy and the trials & tribulations are a part of what we experience.

Thanks Tree Spud. Go to my Land Tour thread for the story. I will also tell you that last year was the first time I ever saw this deer. Now the part you won't believe - he was about 125 last year. Check out my story and let me know if you have other questions.

It wasn't the BOB clover - It was the Deer Crack and Cornholer that did it....:emoji_grimacing:

Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

Way to nice out today to not skip out of work a bit early. Had walked about 2.5miles with very few birds and all jumping way out in front.

Was just standing there watching piper work a willow patch when this guy decides to fly right to me from about a 1/4 mile out.

Shouldn't say this but should have 2. After a quick water break back at the truck. Decided to hit 1 more small patch. Dont make it 100 yards and a rooster blows up right under my feet. Click. No round in the chamber.

Doggo just gave me a sideways look..
Whoops, my bad.

Gotta say, this is some best late fall weather we have had in a long time.

Trophy doe down. It was the 1st kill my 8 yr old son Chris got to experience. He was thrilled.

trophy Doe indeed! Smile says it all.

Not a good start to second shotgun season here. Stayed at the cabin and about 130 am the fire went out put a log on it in hopes of getting it going and caused the whole room to fill with smoke. The smoke alarm went off we had to open the door and try and fan it out. Now everything smells like old campfire.
Not a lot moving either. Had 3/4 moon last night and was almost bright enough to read. I've seen 2 turkeys and 2 tree rats and that's about it. There has been 3 shots that I have heard. Getting down at 10 eat and try again around 130.

That will wake a guy up in a hurry.

Update. Had a fawn come in she was tiny missing a back foot. Figure she will end up coyote food sadly

I would have shot it. Not sure about where you are, but here injured animals don't count toward our quota.

Still no shooters, but I don't mind the view

Great view for the next hour and change... wish you the best of success!

Well I think my hunt is over. Our local bobcat just ran right in front of me. Couldn't get my phone out fast enough to get a picture
Quick edit. Had 4 does walk by at 445 at 60 yds put the big one in my scope for about 8 min but didn't pull the trigger. I just didn't feel like butchering tomorrow so she got the pass
