Fingers crossed that this is a pretty cool wild apple find. A buddy told me about a tree he thinks is just an old wild apple tree way back at the end of his property deep in some pines that used to be at the edge of an old field/pasture. The tree is pretty wild looking and just a multi trunk mess of twists and turns and while it may not be the 40' tall monster he said it was, its all of 30' to the top. I had to bust old dead limbs and climb up about 10 feet into it to reach some new growth with my pruning pole. The pruning "stik" is 12' or 14' in length to give a rough idea of the trees size. The pic shows the fruit from it... He said they were large and bright red, the only way I can judge them is by the anti scalping roller of his zero turn mower which is a pretty large deck mower with large front rollers... He took the pic while up riding on the mower. I had to hump through snow still 2' deep yesterday to get to the tree so Im hoping its worth it.
