If you could buy land in any State?

Seasons are winding down and I was just doing a little dreaming. If I had the money and time to hunt anyplace plus my home state where would I buy? What state for you guys and why?
 
Kansas. There is a guy here who has deer, elk, pigs, etc. all on the same property.
 
But you'd need to be a resident of Iowa to fully capitalize. Not friendly to non-resident landowners.

If you are talking about buying land, I would only consider a neighboring state and only if it was a reasonable drive. Traveling to hunt is one thing, but if I owned land, I'd want to be there much more frequently. Of course, if you talking about enough money to own and fly your own plane, that would extend the distance a bit.
 
I would buy the 80 next to my farm,I have had elk pass through but only land owners can shoot pigs in Kansas and thank goodness I haven't had any of those
 
Good news is, you can buy land in any state! At least for now. As Yoderjac said, it's important to be close enough to work it and enjoy it. I strongly recommend buying hunting land you live on 24/7. Yea, that reduces your possible work options, but it is absolutely doable.
 
Buy a farm that adjoins a large sanctuary that doesn't allow hunting but does allow retrieving. And hope that it doesn't change hands. That's probably more important than the state.
 
I'd just buy more where I'm at. If it's not accessible, it doesn't mean much to me right now.
And I'm not pulling up roots and moving my entire herd for deer.

Plus, we have the genetics and if I can get the age structure right, keep the pressure down, and feed them right, I don't think there are going to be too many places that are noticibly better than where I'm at.
 
I mean Iowa 100% is the best, especially if my money is no limiting factor. However, if I'm staying here where I live now and having to commute...I'd honestly go OH or IL. I'd prefer to be able to enjoy it more than the longer trip to IA would allow me living in Northern Indiana.
 
Harris county Georgia. As good as anywhere in the country, including iowa. Realtree farms, foxworthy,Michael Waddell, amongst many other big protected properties. Only problem...about $5k an acre for land with any size to it and chances are you are competing with someone who has a lot more money than me to get it.
 
I would add to my Iowa farm. Powerball tickets have not panned out for me.

Someday I would like to buy in South Dakota. The hunting is fantastic, it is close to my place in MN,...and the politics and taxes are superb!

Only problem...about $5k an acre for land with any size to it and chances are you are competing with someone who has a lot more money than me to get it.
Good luck buying in Minnesota or Iowa for 5K an acre. Maybe with a time machine if that is on the table.

A bunch of 170-200+ inchers are shot in this county?
 
If I could buy land for $4000 an acre or less within an hour of my place, i'd go scoop up as much as my bank would let me.

Well comparing the entire state to one county may be a stretch but yes there are. And a lot that most people will never hear about. It’s incredible. Iowa may be a stretch but it would hold its own against most any county in the country. It’s just different hunting. Not big ag so deer can be a little harder to see.

heres t-bones from this year. 186 I think. Technically troup county but right on the line.

$5k/ acre in my county I live in now is nearly unheard of unless wetland.
