Honeysuckle herbicide

What herbicides do you all use to kill jap bush honeysuckle? I'm wondering what's the most cost effective. I've been using 50%glyphosate/50%water.

After you cut with loppers or chainsaw, how long do you have to spray the stump?

Thanks all

Gly seems to work just as good as triclopyr or 24d in my experience. The recommendation from the crew that does it for the state of Il said as soon as possible after cutting to facilitate good uptake. For me it is much easier to kill than autumn olive that seems to resprout much more often.

Arsenal. Non cropland.

Yote, I too use glyphosate with blue dye to keep track of where I've sprayed. Apply immediately after cutting.

Gly will do it; however, although 2.5X more expensive, Crossbow will probably do it faster and more completely.

I’m also more concerned about being able to fully kill the huge autumn olive colonies. I tend to score the stumps and sides to provide more surface to absorb the roundup. I’d like to think it helps.

I’m using 50/50 roundup to water. Have heard 60/40 might be better, using just enough water so the mix is thin enough to easily flow through a cheap spray bottle. (Straight 41% glyphosate will NOT mist or spray through a typical plastic spray bottle.)

An old dish soap bottle 1/3 Garlon4 and the rest diesel fuel. The diesel will act as a penetrant for a basal treatment through the bark.

Cutting with 50/50 gly has worked for me. I tried a diesel/triclophyr basal bark treatment on honeysuckle and the results were not good. They were good for Autumn Olive, particularly applying in the Fall and Winter.

I use Crossbow and spray within a few minutes of cutting.
