Hen of the woods?

I know they're old, but are these an edible?

Wouldn't suggest eating them at that stage. You might not get sick, but it won't be good.

I didn't pick them, just wondering if they are edibles (not necessarily edible right now). Do they look like hens?

They look like a couple of piles of molded fungus at this point. With one picture of each shown it is impossible to identify. Could they be Hens? sure. They might not be either. Bottom one looks more Hen like, top one kind of looks like a spored-out pile of Oyster mushrooms, but Hens are known to grow at the base of Oaks and the top mushroom looks like it is.

Put a gun to my head and I would say the bottom is a Hen, the top is Oysters. 0% confidence.

Thanks. Both are at the base of the same tree (a large Chinkapin oak), they are only about 2ft from each other. Both are old! Neither had what looked like gills underneath. Wish I would have found them a month ago!
