Global warming

Lol!
What do we have left?11 years now?
No more trees planted by this guy. From now on only annuals going in the ground. Tons of corn!!
9 years left. Don’t ration the corn

Haha, stop and look at your hunting gear, or how you transport yourself to your spot, or a thousand other things in your daily life...how much depends on oil? Ain't no way to replace it with a stupid windmill, or a solar panel.

I gotta laugh...I've been on several week long rafting trips with guides that tend to be tree huggers. Usually during the trip, they feel the need to enlighten the clients on the evils of oil and why it's destroying the planet. Yep, the same guides that are rowing a raft made from oil, filled with passengers that drove cars or flew in planes to the launch, in these rafts are oars made from oil, with dry bags and coolers made from oil, and clothing made from oil, and tents, sleeping pads and 99% of other gear made from oil, plus all the safety crap and 1st aid/drugs made with oil...
It is totally delusional to think that modern society can wave a magic wand and convert energy production and product manufacture to a non oil system. ARE THEY NUTS OR STUPID OR EVIL MANIPULATORS? You decide.
The concept is surely short slighted. Can you imagine the level of poverty that will travel across the globe when these idiot bureaucrats try to manage a WORLD ECONOMY and a GLOBAL CLIMATE? They can't even manage the vaccine distribution, or voting count in one part of one state.
Haha, the EPA? Yet another bureaucracy joke.
These traitors put their hand on the Bible and swear to defend the Constitution, but then then do everything in their power to screw our freedom.
Who, in their right mind, thinks that those evil bureaucrats can manage a complex climate and then adjust the management when needed as Mother Nature bends and twists as she pleases?
Yep, that's just what I want...Nancy and OAC, dictating our lives. Am I the only one that can see how ridiculous they are?

No, there are at least 75 million that agree with you. I would bet AOC can’t name three things oil is used for.

Ha! I bet AOC couldn't name the nearest star, and has no clue that oil is used for anything other than combustion.

Lots of people don't know how much stuff is made from oil, or how bad mining lithium and the other things involved in "green" energy is for the earth. They also don't understand that Canada IS GOING TO SELL THEIR OIL. Doesn't matter if they pipeline it, boat it, truck it, or train it... it is going to be produced and used somewhere in the world. What is proven though, is that those in power will not pass legislation that takes away from their own comfort of living. They will still get to have 66k square foot homes. They will still fly and vacation. They will still get the best doctors or the best climate control in their mansion. Buying back 20yr old cars will appease the liberals. Carbon taxing companies (that pass the cost to employees) will appease the liberals. None of it will affect plastics, batteries, wind turbine production, high end cars, or small jets. They pass laws, claim progress, then set back in their filth and smile... while everyone else makes the sacrifice.

A lot of the problem with oil/gas related power generation in Texas was failure to properly insulate against extremely cold temperatures. How many folks that live in the Yukon put air conditioners in their house. But, I am sure a lot of that will change in TX - there will be changes in insulation and freezing prevention in the oil and gas industry in TX - on that you can bet. I am not sure what preventative measures can be taken to prevent windmills from icing up and solar panels from being covered with snow. But the biggest problem with wind and solar is the inability to increase output at will - anytime day or night. We, in the south, largely use electric heat pumps for heating our houses. They are inefficient at best in extremely cold weather and draw inordinate amounts of electricity when the emergency heat strips kick on - which happened in mass. Lets just say, for arguments sake, all of the generation equipment had performed during this cold spell. When power use doubles overnight, carbon related power generation - oil/coal/gas - can be brought on line or ramped up much more quickly and easily than wind or solar. I believe that the inability of current green energy technology to provide peak use power quickly and easily is going to be difficult to overcome.

Do not forget peak power demands pay more to the power companies too... they pull a premium. So... normally they love peak use... its not a problem till it becomes a problem. There is big money in running that tight edge at the fringes of total capacity. "Winterizing" costs a lot and cuts into the profits so its a preferred practice not to do it especially in Texas with no oversight and a low expectation of something like this happening across their whole grid. When they isolated themselves into their little self run zone it all looked good till it didnt. Winterizing to the oil companies is not considered an investment in infrastructure its simply a cost, an inherent cost to return on profit that is considered prohibitive and weighted against the likely hood of it happening. They just got caught this time.
I do not see any foreseeable future with out fossil fuels as base source of power - especially with its flip of a switch ramp up/catch up ability. The first area is fuel for our vehicles. Hybrid with hydrogen is most likely the future despite some of its major issues. The auto industry's know it now and are making the initial token efforts. Ford knows its electric vehicles work - they have a long history of working prototypes. Most issues are matters of scale.
Its just a crime to see all the propane and natural gas that gets flared up once refineries hit storage capacity. Propane is the real shame burning all that excess off instead of providing cheap heating fuels.
It would be nice if the goal of the industry was to supply us with cheap affordable and abundant supplies of fuels - instead they manage it to try and keep prices up, even if it means destroying their reserves. Its really makes a person sick to sit and stare at flare stacks burning off stored propane, day after day... it can take months to burn off.

When you go to put gas in your Chevy truck and you have to take a gas cap of that says this vehicle runs best on BP fuels... that paints a stark reality of the world we really live in.

Global climate change is a fact and a natural condition of the planet, and there is nothing we can do to stop it. Another fact is that we will eventually run out of fossil fuels, and fossil fuels pollute.

The obvious solution is a pragmatic approach that limits environmental and economical costs as much as reasonably possible. But of course these days only fanatics get a voice in the nation's debates, and the leftists are frighteningly Machiavellian in their pursuit of their goals.
