Garden plants

I picked up my tomatoes and pepper plants ready to go in when this artic blast passes, mid 20's here last night. Putting them out during the day and in at night.
Who else has their gardens in or ready to go in?

I have loads of small pots planted with veggies and herbs that are ready to go out, plus a recently grafted Quince tree. Lows at or near zero for the next few days. Really frustrating after the beautiful Spring we have had so far. Good news is I got some free potatoes and herbs to plant out, and I might get a few rhubarb plants for free, and the Quince was free due to a broken graft union. I also got a few blackcurrant and Quince bushes for free as well as 30 small plum tree clones. I have plenty to do, just need the weather to do it.

I rototilled the garden last week before the cold weather hit. My tomato plants are in the house as it is 34 degrees outside now. Our asparagus was about 4 - 6" high and froze last night as we had a hard freeze. Typical spring in Western NY.

I have onions, peas, and lettuce growing. Picked all my asparagus last night before this mornings freeze so none would get injured. Tomatoes and peppers were started inside under lights and won't go out til Memorial Day. Got a bunch of flowers started inside too. Purple coneflower, bee balm, and asters are perennials to go out into the orchard. I also have strawflowers, carnations, snapdragons, Amaranth, and Celosia started under lights to go in the garden. Going to start pumpkins and melons inside tomorrow.

You've been busy starting plants.

I’ve been holding off with the cool weather, going to buy them next weekend. I’ve got our little garden ready to go.
Planting; tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, lettuce, oregano, parsley, bell peppers and some jalapeños.

I have onions and lettuce in and growing. Wife went to the green house Wednesday to get broccoli. Greenhouse lady told her she better get everything, because she was going to sell out soon. People are buying plants like toilet paper here. Everything is in a window being babied, until we can plant.

Anybody grow peppers from seed? I tried last year and it was a complete flop. I'm about 90 days out from the safe frost free planting date. I'm considering starting my peppers in the next week. Last year, I started them 5 weeks early and that wasn't nearly enough, nor did they grow at all after June 1st.

I'm also going with a couple new large cherry tomatoes for this year. I'll start them around mid April for a June 1 plant out.

I've grown peppers from seed in the past, but they seem to grow slow and mine ended up spindly since I didn't have a fan on them in my little indoor greenhouse. In hindsight I think room temperatures weren't high enough for the peppers to thrive. In the garden they don't seem to grow very quickly until the hottest part of the summer, so the 68 degree indoor temps might not be enough.

Where are you located? I struggle with peppers in my northern location. Have to start them indoors in February or March, then harden them off in late May and get them planted out. A cloudy summer will basically stall them out.

I grow peppers from seed. I'll start mine around April 1st, with a scheduled transplant date of June 1st. My last frost date is May 15. I keep them on a heat mat at all times.
