I tried out my ARS Longreach pruner today and am really happy with it. I got the 7 footer. Really nice to reach up and cut small limbs that are to "whippy" to cut easily with a pole saw. Will be great to use cutting hard to reach scion wood. Thanks Maya for mentioning them in a thread some months ago.

I'm sure it will be your favorite tool in the toolbox! I can go a whole year of pruning with it and not touch it up w/ a stone. What a blade! I love not getting up on a ladder as much as I do with loppers. With my back, I have to be as safe as possible, this tool helps me do just that.

How does the action work? Looks like a squeeze handle. or is it a rope pull
 
Squeeze handle. Works great on branches < 3/4".

Just ordered mine from Amazon as the shipping and handling from OESCO was 40 bucks and was free with Amazon even tho the pruner was 11 dollars more and I had to pay tax but still was 20 cheaper using Amazon

My hands are killing me from using it however lol. I did about 30 more trees the next day and about 30 yesterday. Still working through all my pruning. Gave a few trees a good haircut with saw many of which had broken limbs from last years over crop
 
So you're saying you're done Aero? Come on up, I'll be in the orchards all weekend! :)
 
Nooooooo not done. About half way. My hands need a few days to recover. I think I will finish this coming week with the warmer temps. I need to take weekends off to keep the peace here lol. Good luck and don't work too hard
 
I just broke down and ordered. Now I have to find some time to get to the farm and prune. Probably not going to happen before the blizzard hits, but at least I'm ready.

Good job Matt. It's nice pruning with zero snow haha much easier Careful after a full day with those pruners. Your hand will be stiff so there a few things you won't be able to do lol
 
Just got in from getting a few big trees done. I got what I could get easily with my loppers and then used the long reach, mostly to thin the tops. 2-3 hours is enough for this old fart and his broken up back! I might go out for a bit a little later.
