This was two weekends ago, headed up tomorrow so hopefully they look even better. Could hardly get anywhere without deer being in the plots. I have some access issues I need to address but that’s a story for another day.

When you say vetch, are you talking about Jointvetch (Aeschynomene) ?

Yes. American jointvetch. In a perfect world I would have terminated all of it prior to fall planting but I needed some food on my place. Where I left it, it has gotten thick and viney and none of the stuff I broadcast into it has come up.

I never planted it before this year. Tried some small areas in April, but too much pressure. In August, had some left in the Firminator when I was discing 2 weeks prior to planting. It was up and green when I came to plant. Planted right over it, and I swear it stimulated it. It is doing great under all of my sorghum/pea/buckwheat/oat mix. I think they are preferring that to a lot of stuff right now

Hadn’t updated much. Been a crazy time with a baby and now moving this Friday to the Nashville area from the atlanta area. With that said i did get to deer hunt some. Not as much as I’d like but to be expected. Season was kinda uneventful. Had a couple deer from time to time. One got shot by neighbor. Looked like mid 140’s. Very little habitat work got done unfortunately. All that should change with the move. 6 hours just went to 2 hours. That’s a gamechanger for me.
Despite a house in disarray, the wife let me take a three day for turkey opener. Pretty disappointed. Worked one bird the whole time. Had safety off three different times in a three hour cat and mouse with nothing to show. Pretty disappointed in the weekend from a hunting perspective. Wasn’t much to work with in terms of bird. He was the probably the only definitive bird on my land all three days. Kinda felt bad hunting him! So I decided to start some habitat work cause I think I enjoy that more anyway!

weather wasn’t conducive but when life hands you lemons...rained the day before and humidity in the mid 40’s made it tough to carry but some cedar skeletons kept it fun

caught some bass and dinner plate sized bream from the pond and ate for 4 (there was only 2 of us there)

and at the end of a frustrating hunting day there is always a sunset to enjoy from the porch.

Gorgeous!

Curious - What model cultipacker is that? I'm in the market for a 3 point 72" width.

Awesome!

Gorgeous and breathtaking view you have there. Congratulations!

Looks like an era is coming to an end. Just went under contract on another piece of property down the road from mine (I’ll do a tour when it closes). I love this place and feel like I hardly got much of its potential out but it was fun trying. From year 1 to year 4 the quality of deer using the place, per the cameras anyway, increased dramatically. I like to think I had a small hand in that. Fixing the cabin to make it more live able was fun and rewarding also. I’m hoping I have half as good of neighbors at my new place as I did there. Never had one single problem with any of them and outside of the two who didn’t hunt we were all the same page with antler goals. Should be listed in a couple weeks. If anyone knows of someone who wants 251 acres and a cabin and shop stocked pond in western ky just let me know! Tractor, jd brush hog and disk also included or I can take them out.

I know plenty of someones who would want it, no so much on realistic buyers though. I'm sure H-T folks would like to look at a listing once it's live if you dont mind.

That worked out well…was on the market for a day and under contract. Hope the new guys love it as much as I did and kill some studs. I’m happy for them and just don’t want them to send me any pics haha.
