Dec buck sequence

I got this in december....I thought this was interesting....

That is a great sequence! The buck on the right has a nice full rack, while the buck on the left is all busted up. My money would be the buck on the left if this tussle got any more serious. Always fascinating to watch a couple bucks facing off.

I think they do that all the time. Boys on the playground.

When it gets ugly, it’s ugly…

I was just surprised to see it in december... this would have been during our secondary rut, which is alive and well here. I was also surprised how the busted up buck wasn't backing down too much.... I guess it shows that some bucks simply have a more aggressive personality. Any way it was the first time I was able to capture something like this on cam. I have seen some light sparing in person once or twice, but I thought this was pretty cool. Now hopefully they live until next fall and I can find the bigger one then!

My friend just witnessed this last week. He found a staging area just outside his cornfield in cover. He moved his camera over it. He had six different bucks in there, some sparring. They were all 2 1/2 and younger.

I had probably 5x times more buck fighting pictures this December than Oct/November. 3 1/2 and younger and didn’t really look to be serious. Figured it was the bachelor groups getting back together and akin to a high five at the bar.

Many times in December you have a dominant or nice 3 year old buck removed from the herd in mid to late December firearms season. Coincide with any late born fawns coming in and you have a recipe for a little more action once again.

Fighting one minute feeding the next. Date is accurate seems a lot of young bucks.
