Cummins Nursery’s new web-site is finally operational.

They are more of a novelty for me also. I do put a couple in a box of mixed apples when I give them to someone.

They are supposed to be high in antioxidants.

I’m going to have to blame you for my recent red fleshed addiction too!
After years of seeing all of your awesome pics of them along with the pink cider and apple sauce you post up I finally caught the bug.
I wouldn’t be surprised if I end up with an apple press in a few years........

Thanks!
I’ve got four or five dolgo seedlings I just moved out of nursery box two weeks ago to orchard, have a couple Kerr ordered from Cummins for spring 2022.
The varieties of red fleshed there are from different nurseries is impressive at least a dozen or so to choose from.
Most of my next years spring order is geared towards cider apples.
Before this year I never really paid that much attention to the cider potential with apples was always just looking at DR and drop times. Luckily a lot of the trees I already have growing are also good cider varieties.

Sandbur is the reason for my switch to crab apples for wildlife too. Bur has been a HORRIBLE influence on a number of us here !! I have some of his seedlings growing in pots on my patio too. And I'll pick up more of Bur's trees from Ryan at Blue Hill in a couple weeks.

Bur is right about the crabs. Tough trees, good producers, no real headache. Bur's responsible for about 40 trees at our camp as it stands today. :emoji_astonished::emoji_thumbsup:

I was looking at Blue Hill this morning, I’m going to have to pick up a couple days of OT after looking those crabs over!
I’m going to be busy digging holes next spring.

No kidding, he is the apple drug kingpin. I started with 4 apple trees 4 years ago and now have 82 coming this spring. :emoji_astonished:

On my light to medium soils and on the edge of zone 3, the crabs seem to do best for me.

I suspect that those of you with great soils and warmer climates have many more choices.

There are many of you with more experience than me.
