Cuddelink no cell cam

Yearling... With promise
Just curious if most problems people are having is involving the cell cams. Is this a fair statement?

Indiana I think it was a rush product to market like all technology is cause the consumer want it now

I waited a couple of years before I bought into it. I had a few problems (my mis-understanding) setting it up - it is more complicated than your average game camera - but it also does a lot more. I cant speak for durability and longevity of the system, but in the three months I have had it, the system missed sending pics on time. Other than that - no problems

I have 2 cuddelink camera s home camera and an ir camera and they eat through batteries like crazy, and I bought the home camera since it was to be able to hook up via usb to a pc but apparently that function will never be available even though it was advertised it would

Some other company will come out with a better product soon that will top cuddelink

cell brings a whole slew of challenges both for the user and the manufacturer, that said - the few issues we have corrected recently were a result of exponential growth to the number of users. those issues have been fixed and it affected only a small percentage of users. the system is more complicated than a standard cell cam so user error happens. most users once they get the hang of it have very few hiccups.

I’ve monitoring 3 different Cuddelink systems on 3 different, but close farms right now. They have been a huge asset to us. They are responsible for a couple harvests (mostly early season patternable bucks that we may not have hunted before). We love the white flash. Very few blurry or unrecognizable bucks.

One cell system is just over a year old with 10 cameras. It has worked flawlessly with the exception of some battery pack wiring issues last year that’s still effecting a couple cameras that need to be sent in after season. We’ve just replaced the internal batteries more often in those cameras to get by this year. Make sure that you get the external battery packs though. They can be a little tough on batteries.

Another cell system is over two years old. It has 17 cameras and 2 repeaters. It has had a couple issues this year where the cell shut off. Customer service was good early this year. I’m guessing they got backlogged in season with all of the cameras that are out there nowadays. This system is working again now, but there is also a backlog of photos still coming in randomly with new pictures. I think they updated software to help with this during season, but we didn’t want to take the time to do all of the cameras in season. The data is still good, it’s just not as good as it could have been.

The third system is a non-cell home unit behind my house. I love not having to check cameras and leave scent on our small acreage. I love monitoring all of these cameras during our 9 day gun season. Not that I’m hunting the deer, but looking forward to the survivors! The cuddelink system is not cheap, but it is worth it in my opinion. I will be adding another camera out back this offseason. I’d really like to start building a system for the area that I gun hunt, but not sure if that’s in the cards for this year.

We have a huge asset with John on these forums. He helped point me in the right direction early when I was trying to decide which direction to go. We used to be huge cuddeback users back in the day, but moved away from them for a few years because of poor quality and poor support. We have not had big issues with either the last couple of years. Like I said before, it’s nice to have white flash cameras again. My only recommendation would be for even more MP and even clearer pictures.

My hunting properties are all within 15 min drive. 360 acres out my back door attached to my own 13 acres. This just seems to be the most logical solution. I would not be using a cell cam which makes me feel more comfortable with the decision to drop the money

Checking a home unit sd card instead of walking thru your hunting area is the main reason I spent the money initially. The system works perfectly for that, is an outstanding feature, and you'll appreciate it. Every single cam manufacturer has some sort of quality issue, Cuddeback is not perfect, but there's no quality advantage looking elsewhere. Battery use is maybe a little more than the average cam, but when it comes to systems, especially cell cam systems, it's typical. And there's solar options to help with that. No issues to worry about there.
You'll likely do what I did, due to the cost of getting started: No cell unit, and checking the home unit card. Like I said before, you'll love that feature for sure. Then you'll likely bite the bullet, cause you want more up to date info, and you'll go for the cell camera. You'll find it's worth the money to know when big boy is on his feet in your area, if that's your purpose.
The system can be a little glitchy, but I'm not sure there's a system out there that is immune to glitches. All things considered, after running this system for 3 years now, and although the price point is high (for a guy like me) I'm still enamored with this technology, and I feel the system has been a good value for my money. It's got my recommendation.

I haven't had any major problems with their cell or non-cell cams. Only have 2 of the cell ones though, so less chance of things going wrong maybe. They really need to have it so the firmware updates can be done w/out going to the cameras though. Or have it so no more are needed by next Fall.
