Cuddelink 2020 GEN 2 version

Yesterday I put out my J-1422 that takes 12 AAs with a 6D power pack. It took about 50 pics which were sent by the cellular cam. They were the only two cameras I had out. I went out to check some settings this morning because I didn't like the quality of some pics. I was greeted with a dead battery message. Took the camera home and indeed the 12 AAs were toast- like the lowest I've ever seen on my cheap tester. I'm sure the batteries were good when I put them out. The D batteries in the power pack were still good. One last thing- i threw in two lithium ions with my 10 rayovac AAs.
Is mixing battery types the problem?
Why doesn't the power pack take over?
What else could cause overnight battery depletion?

Thanks for any replies- I know some of this stuff is in the thread but man it can be hard to find.

Does someone know what's going on with cam#6? First day I got a few pics but nothing since.

with 3 links to get home and a level of 14 it could easily be falling off the network , it will also take longer for those images to
reach him than the cameras you have with a direct connection to home. As temps drop and leaf cover falls your levels will get higher but you always wanton shoot for a level of 20 or higher especially in situations like you have with camera 6.

never mix lithium with alkaline it can damage the camera and or your battery pack - battery manufacturer will also tell you to never mix , you dont even want all lithium in the camera and alkaline in you booster.lithium runs a chargeionto the alakines and fries them and usually whatever they are in.
I would do one of two things with that camera-
1. switch the aa back for a 4D battery back and then run rayovac High energy d's in the camera and the booster. (f you do this make sure the internal battery selection is on 4D BEFORE you swap the back out) . this is the ideal set up.
OR-
2. Leave the camera empty(no AA's) and run the booster alone with 6 rayovac high energy d's in it, you ill get 3-5 months running it this way.

Well, I just ordered a gazillion AAs (rayovac alkaline) so what about putting them in with high energy in booster? When I use these AAs up I'll get the 4D backs.

honestly its a waste of money to run the aa with the 6 d in booster, they run concurrent and you really dont get any more battery life than running the booster alone.

Thanks. I'll have to figure out how to use 72 AAs some other way haha.

Is there a difference between "CL LEVEL" when deploying a remote camera and the "RF LEVEL" that remote cameras report to the HOME? When I deployed my cameras the other day my last remote camera I put out had a 'CL LEVEL" of 60. This camera is 225 yards from the next closest remote camera down the edge of a corn field and passes 2 other remote cameras in a woodlot on the way back to the HOME unit 575 yards away. Now when I'm checking the SD card in the HOME unit I'm getting a report that this camera is only showing a RF LEVEL of 10. Could this camera be bypassing the other 3 remote cameras and communicating directly with the HOME Unit? It was strange that I had a solid 60+ signal when deploying the camera and now showing a <20 signal on every report. Maybe "CL LEVEL" and "RF LEVEL" aren't correlated at all?

They are the same. When it read 60 it was most likely linking to one of the other remotes. The 10 is linking directly to Home. They try to link to Home and if they can’t they will link through a remote. As long as you are getting pictures I wouldn’t worry.

I have a G-23 G series camera, when it takes pictures during the daytime the pictures are pinkish color? Is there something wrong with the camera or is it in the settings. Night pics show the IR is working.
Thanks.
I have another camera that keeps taking pictures, I set the delay for 60 min. is there a way I can have this camera not take pics until I can get to the camera?

The IR filter is stuck in night mode. You can cut the camera off in Advanced settings for either day or night. If you want to cut it completely off, change it to Repeater.

Is there anything I can do if the IR is stuck in night mode other than sent the camera in?
Thanks for your help!!

You can try and run a filter test. It’s in the test menu. It may unstick it.

John I have a question/inquiry about the external voltage and the switchover to internals. I have a cam that just went from "ext ok" to "ok". There was no "ext low" like there has been in the past. I'm almost positive I read on here that the cams will now switch to the highest voltage source (whether it's internal or external). I pulled the exif data from the pics and the last pic using ext source was 6.828 50%. The next pic in the sequence was int source at 6.796 100%. So I guess the question is, will this cam switch back to the ext source at some point? I know the voltage on those 6 D's is roughly 1.13... so they are basically done but it would be nice if there was an "ext low" on the report since I was in the area a few days ago and I would've replaced them.

Is the cable for the power booster pw-3624 available to order? I had no luck with google? Connecting to a 4-D J camera.
Squirrel chewed it up and also drained all 6 batteries (all read .9V).

it depends on what you are using for external , and what type of battery and number you have in you camera - batteries are variable and can change rapidly base don temp and other factors, so one time it will go to ext low and the next it can jump right to the ok reading(internals) this isnt abnormal. if this is a 3600 solar panel it may very well jump back to the panel, if its a d booster it wont

I wouldn't know which cable you'd need but you could try https://www.rgsportsandoutdoors.com/trailcameraaccessories?page=2 or https://farmsteadoutdoors.com/?s=cuddeback&post_type=product .....they've helped me in the past when I didn't know exactly which part was needed.

you want the c2-c2 cable dealers listed in other post would have it as would cuddeback direct.

Just a thank you to John Volkman! I appreciate the help on getting my system back up and running after going to 8.3

You sent the email yesterday afternoon. I just sent it to you now.

Hoytvectrix good afternoon!

I have the same issue with multi cameras in the field with 8.1.

Any chance I could get the 8.1 update emailed to me?

thanks
