Working in the medical field / married to a MD I've done my best to make sure my shares in this thread have been backed by significant data, as will this post....
For those acting as if the Delta variant marks the end of the world as we know it... really? And I question that BASED ON DATA.
Let's start by looking at where the Delta variant really took off, India. Yes they had a big spike of cases In April this year... but guess what. As spikes go, it was fairly short-lived with cases down to the normal levels in about an 8 week period.
Much more striking than that, though is a look at England. They're having a spike of cases right now, and while it may appear dramatic / alarming, guess what the Delta variant ISN'T causing... deaths. You'd NEVER know that listening to the MSM / social media alarmists. Here's the actual chart taken directly from the John Hopkins covid tracking site. Delta cases in England CLEARLY have lost the level of correlation seen last year in linking with deaths, surely due to both gained natural immunity by those who've already suffered from covid combined with those now vaccinated.
The US chart likely will show a similar path to the UK with an increase in cases in the weeks ahead, but based on the levels of vaccinations married with the large number of people who've gained natural immunity in the US, I'm comfortable predicting we also won't see a strong correlation between cases and deaths. Here's the latest US chart.
As for the ridiculous claims of the government being as transparent as ever... spare me, and I DON'T say that as an anti-vaxxer. In fact, working in the medical field my wife and I were among the earliest vaccinated due to our profession and being over age 50, feeling the math made it worth it. That out of the way, some facts that would trigger this post being blocked on social media platforms:
1) The vaccines are authorized under emergency use conditions... meaning that those producing them can't / won't be held liable for any future issues that might arise. THIS ALONE TO ME should make it a completely optional choice for citizens living in a free society.
2) One of the conditions of emergency use of the vaccines is that no effective TREATMENTS exist. So it doesn't exactly take a rocket scientist to see why ANY POTENTIAL TREATMENT might be attacked by companies, corporate entities, and politicians with billions of dollars of skin in the game for costly vaccines guaranteed to be purchased WITH ZERO LIABILITY concerns to cast shade on treatment options. As we all surely know (whether we agree on data or not), a book could be written on the political weaponization that has been launched on ANY AND EVERY potential treatment (most past patent dates, dirt cheap, and all of a sudden supposedly extremely risky despite DECADES of widespread use by the way). In a free society, one would think that analysis/discussion of as many options as possible would be brought to light / examined/weighed against one another by data. That surely is NOT what has taken place over the past year, where the mere typing of drug names has resulted in numerous scientists, esteemed MDs, and any expert daring not to only follow a "VACCINE ONLY/ ALL" call to be blocked/banned/silenced. Why? Because, again, if even a single drug is identified as being effective in treating covid then the conditions of "emergency use" / "zero liability" vaccination could serve to halt emergency vaccination use/justification. There is no question that numerous studies have pointed to at least degrees of improved outcomes with several drugs, and frankly I find it nothing short of evil/criminal to think that thousands to hundreds of thousands of lives may have been sacrificed in an effort to jusitfy a "VACCINE IS THE ONLY ALLOWABLE ANSWER!" push.
3) Up until this spring, daring to say that covid even *might* have originated in a lab would result in the removal of content from social media. Only once the cat got so far out of the bag on the level of "gain of function" work being done at Wuhan did liberals finally realize they couldn't get away with it any longer, leading to this golden moment of clarity surprisingly voiced by Jon Stewart...
3) Fauci clearly has been caught in numerous lies at this point, and last year even admitted to believing that his lying was justified if it led to actions he believed justified. Those only following the liberal MSM don't likely have much of an appreciation for the complexity of just how wrapped up he is in the "gain of function" Wuhan lab work, but for those who haven't followed it here are the cliff notes... "gain of function" speaks to efforts to take animal diseases and to modify them for study as potential "novel"/new human diseases. Though not his biggest fan, I have to give credit to Obama for even being able to appreciate the risks associated with financing "gain of function" work in other countries, and accordingly Obama called to halt such funding. Fauci was very outspoken at the time about his anger in halting the "gain of function" research, with numerous public statements made voicing his support that it needed to be restarted. Rand Paul KNOWS that Fauci's past vocal and written support of "gain of function" work has him painted into a corner, although the democrats and liberal media will surely do their best to protect him for as long as they can.
How any of the above work between vested giant corporations to completely eliminate typical liability, silence free speech regarding any potential treatments, and rabidly obfuscate gain of function work done in Wuhan, equate to record levels of transparency??? You sure got me there. Seems the polar opposite in my book.

As for the alarmist post about children and covid, while there will always be exceptions to the norm when it comes to data...
The data CLEARLY points to extremely low risks for children, with the caveat that the vaccines have already been shown to result in several notable albeit rare risks to children (myocarditis,Guillain-Barre syndrome, etc).
Per the American Academy of Pediatrics AS OF 7/15/2021:
Obviously, dig into the data enough and, again, there is a minuscule risk of death among children... but data CLEARLY paints it as just that... minuscule. There's also a minuscule risk that if your child gets vaccinated they will develop myocarditis and or be left paralyzed by Guillain-Barre syndrome. Unfortunately, we live in a world that just isn't risk-free if we opt to get out of bed and live as humans each morning.
Above shared, with drug companies facing zero liability, rates of serious disease so statistically low among children, and several true vaccine risks now identified anything beyond parental choice on vaccination strikes me as draconian at this time.

My Grandsons uncle on the other side of unmarried parents got his second shot on Tuesday. His parents heard all about the dreaded Deta variant and insisted this 22 year old get vaccinated.

I suppose the men who have been in the news recently in hospital ICU's SAYING WITH THEIR OWN MOUTHS that they "made a terrible mistake" thinking Covid-19 was nothing to fear - are lying?? The 3 men I watched on TV being interviewed ALL said in front of the cameras ......." What would I tell people?? After what I've / we've been through ............ go get the shots." They were still hooked up to oxygen tanks as they were wheeled out. Fakers & liars, right?????
For the poster who said they have lots of doctors who ALL say Covid is made-up and no big deal ................ publicize their names of "ALL THOSE DOCTORS", so the whole medical community can see who they are. The public will then know who to avoid.
I have 2 cousins still on oxygen at home after getting Covid-19 last winter. They can no longer function like "normal" anymore. One of my camp members is on several costly medications to help him breathe now. He gets out of breath walking into camp from his truck - a distance of 40 feet. He has to sit down and rest, gasping for air. He told me "I f**ked-up. I should have gotten the shots." He and a couple other camp members got it this past hunting season while tucked in to camp. His pulmonary specialist says he has permanent lung damage from the Covid, and the doctor showed him his x-rays. They were clouded and "cob-webby-looking" as he told me at camp. He didn't believe Covid was anything to worry about, until it changed his life - and almost ended it.
I know .............. all hoax and made-up lies ................................... right??????
Covid-19 is a BRAND NEW HUMAN VIRUS. Viruses of any kind MUTATE - it's what viruses do - even "common cold" viruses mutate. That's why you can get colds more than once - the viruses have mutated. ( I have a doctor in the family ). As with any NEW disease, new facts are learned about it as time progresses. So new info is put out as those new facts are discovered. No one has ALL the answers from day-1 .......... so the medical community puts out new info as it's learned & proved clinically. Look at cancer, and it's many varieties. New things are discovered about cancer all the time as new research continues. But hey ............. if you get diagnosed with cancer ................. will you turn to Huckster Carlson or one of those other YA-HOOS to get answers for your cancer???????????? Accuse cancer doctors of being Democratic "plants" who have no knowledge of the disease???????????? Maybe turn to T**** .............. who by his own mouth says he knows more about diseases than all the doctors - more about war strategy than all "his" generals ?????????

I think your anger is misplaced. If I had people in my life affected by this to that degree, I wouldn't be mad at strangers who don't take it seriously. I'd be angry at the Federal government for teaming up with China to create this virus that has hurt your family. I'd be even more angry at Faucci for knowingly suppressing hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin. How many people needlessly suffered and died when those drugs were there all along and could have cut short their symptoms before they had their lungs wrecked, or died altogether.
This all boils down to one thing now. Biden has completed safety and efficacy work on all the vaccines, and they are bulletproof. Anyone who's been jabbed is safe from the virus, including the variants. The rest of us that aren't jabbed have made up our mind that we're gonna go it alone on immunity. It should be nobody's business what I do to care for myself from here.

Another thing you fail to bring up is what percentage of these people don’t survive? It sounds like the Delta variant is exactly what they thought it was going to be, a less lethal faster spreading version of the first variant.
Before you freak out about those rebellious anti vaxers, put real numbers to the percentages, then compare them to other countries.

You have me pegged all wrong. I'm not angry. I just look at practicality. If people don't want to get vaccinated - that's on them. But just don't spread and infect those of us who BELIEVE the medical experts from around the world who are about 99% in agreement about how to quell this Covid virus ........... as it manifests itself at this time. No telling how many more times it'll mutate into other variants. The hunting season episode I spoke of in my own camp was set off by one member who was infected STILL CHOOSING to go to camp - because "can't miss hunting season." He infected 2 or 3 other guys there and now they have lung damage. This is JUST ONE example of how one's selfishness can harm others. If the medical community said a vaccination could prevent virus-caused miscarriages in pregnant women - and I came to your town unvaccinated - and many women then had miscarriages of your unborn sons & daughters ................... would you hail me as a "self-determining patriot" ??????? (or a selfish bastard who's the walking picture of an a$$h*le??)
Other people talk of "proof" as to the origins of Covid-19. Some CLAIM they "know" China weaponized it to use against the U.S. Where's THEIR PROOF?? Covid-19 attacked the whole planet - not just the U.S. - and it also affected China. Because of China's past experience with SARS, they quickly began wearing masks when Covid broke out there. And I'm NOT defending China here. We shouldn't have ANY "American" companies there IMO - and never should have.
Incidentally .......... around my region, almost all the people - Republicans, Independents, AND Democrats - have worn masks and gotten vaccinated. The proof of that? I know many of all 3 groups. They believe the experts in the medical community, and have seen the effectiveness of past vaccines for various diseases throughout our country's history. Smallpox, Polio, and other diseases have been wiped out because of vaccines. Measles was controlled for the most part, until recently when "anti-vaxxers" started spreading measles around in schools again. Smart ........... by your standards??
