Bone Dry

Back to no rain here. 2 weeks ago we had a good rain now at day 10 with none in the next 10 day forecast. The buckwheat isn't dead yet but it's barely hanging on.

Still pretty dry here. However, threw down a bit of seed and a little nitrogen last evening looking at the forecast. Below is the current radar. The forecast was right for once.

I threw down fertilizer on Thursday, I got about .1” Thursday, and I got about .4” today. Better then nothing.

Even with a couple recent shots of rain my land is now in extreme drought. They have now pulled all the rain out of the 10 day forecast. I'm gonna be damn sure to bear hunt close to water. Lots of reports the berry crop was awful in MN. Well above normal reports of nuisance bears. Think its gonna take a hurricane up the Gulf of Mexico to change the pattern. We are getting cooler temps then July so that should help. Cattle farmers are in deep shit. Bunch of hay fields and pastures are dormant in my area.

We have been getting steady rain here for better than a month. I guess there was one hot dry spell that lasted about a week to ten days but…

I live in the only place on that entire map where there is no drought.

There was actually a fair amount of flooding here this morning from a storm that moved through.

Well the rain started yesterday morning about 11 am and since then we have received 4.6" of rain overnight. We have more coming this morning & afternoon it looks like.

I was glad I overseeded my beans with PTT, forage rape, chicory, german millet & red clover before the rain started.

They flipped the script on my area…middle Tennessee/western ky is now dry as a bone. Was at my place yesterday choking on dust. My yard in Tennessee looks horrible but I can only afford to water so much. I hate summer

Just checked the rain gauge, it had 6.3" in it. It was heavy rain all night.

Farmers are comparing this to the ‘76 drought.

Good luck on the bear hunt. Baits might work well this year, unless bears move long distances to ‘better pastures.’

Went out and moved 2 stands today and spread some brassica and a box of free beans that also had some peas and wheat mixed in. It just let loose for about 8-10 minutes. So not sure how much We got but it's better than nothing.

after 7" of rain in July, we have not gotten anything here in Northern PA in August and it's not looking great for the next 2 weeks....
I saw that there were some storms forecast at ~50%, but those have since dropped to 30-40%...hoping we get something as I just spread some clover and brassicas...
The ground isn't too dry yet, but this week its supposed to be 90+ for several days...might be breaking out the sprayer to water my new fruit trees...

Same boat here. Rained all July, now that it's food plot planting time, nothing. I planted yesterday. We at least have a chance of thunderstorms about every night this week. Hoping to get at least one or two to hit.

I said the same thing to my brother after planting a couple acres Saturday and planning to plant more this week..even if 1 or 2 of those storms give us a little rain we should be ok....im more concerned about next week but 1 tropical storm aimed in the right direction could wipe out those sunny cloudless days real fast

It has been really dry around here for the last three weeks in SC WI. On Thursday I went out and planted over 5 acres of plots ( numerous plots in sizes from 1/4 ac to 3/4 acre ) on 2 of my properties. Not to rub it in to you folks who have extremely dry conditions, but I couldn’t be happier with my timing this year. It rained pretty much all day Saturday, 2 small pop up T-storms with warm and sunny yesterday, and now a beautiful soaker rain that started at 6:30 this morning and still going as of noon.
I just ran out on my Ranger and the plots are full of sprouts and seeds with cracked shells forming root.
A welcome sight for sure!

Central to southern Wisconsin got all the rain over the weekend

While my area in MN has been very dry, and lake levels are low. My land in Western Ia is looking good, and we just spread turnip/radish seed, and got more rain shortly after!

I got .4 since Thursday. While everyone around me got 1-2”.

Got a nice downpour last night followed by a longer drizzle. Currently getting another thunderstorm and supposed to get the tail end of a tropical storm next week. That should get everything going nicely.

broadcasted ALOT of clover (alsike, mammoth red, aberlasting and MRC) in a 1/2 acre patch of the 3 acre field above my house on Sunday night....
like magic, got an hour's worth of rain Monday morning, then a thunderstorm Tuesday...
followed by the remains of Fred today (another 1-3")...
went to check on the field last night....can't believe it germinated in less than 24 hours but I guess the moisture helped..
Might make up for last August's dust bowl of 6 weeks and no rain...hoping the seed doesn't wash away but I am thinking with it being germinated that will help

You northern guys getting anything from Fred? I haven't seen the official measurements but it poured all day yesterday. I bet we got 4-5 inches and we weren't even in the main travel path. Looked like the main part went up through Ohio/western PA
