Bone Dry

Decent rain here today, guessing .4 to half inch so far....
YES! And it sounds like its going to go all day and less heat and carry on a chance into the weekend.

I stood in the rain and planted some brassicas this morning in a dead plot where pumpkins didnt grow in the dust. Worth a shot.

Still very dry, it was almost comical the way the blob on radar parted in the middle and went right around us yesterday.

This map is outdated already. My hunting land in north central MN, is now in D2 drought. I'm really f******g sick of this shit. There is absolutely no relief in sight.

If it stays dry through hunting season water will be a huge draw if you have any ponds or rivers/creeks going through the property you hunt. In past years I have been ready to hunt the water and a day or two before season opens we get 1-2 inches and then water is readily available everywhere. Then it's back to square one. Funny how Murphy's law is sooo consistent.

Any idea how the lake levels are handling it? Upcoming family vaca to the Cass Chain and hoping the water level isn't as low as I fear. Maps show less than an inch of rain in 60+ days.

Down here we have the opposite problem. For the 2nd time in a month, my 15 day forecast shows chances of rain every day.

^^^^I would guess on average the lakes I fish are approximately 3 feet lower then "normal". Some of the landings are start getting really tough to load and unload. At least the fish are running out of places to hide....

Just got to my place and 3" of rain in the rain guage this past week.

Seems like rain is either feast or famine ....

Cant catch a break. We will be in extreme drought within 10 days.

We are suffering the worst drought since the 1980s in West Central Minnesota. My farm in Otter Tail County has not had a 1 inch rain yet. Maybe 2.5 inches since March total?

CRP & plots look borderline desert

Depressing

I wish I could give some you guys some of our rain. I can't really remember the last day it didn't rain. Location nearby said we had rain 13 of the 20 days this month. I feel like it's been more than that here locally though. Had a pretty nasty storm yesterday. I don't have a gauge but had about 3" of water in a bucket I had outside. I feel like I should plant my plots early to take advantage of it. I'll probably plant in August and it will all dry up.

It’s crazy the variability across the country. Here in Tennessee we are getting hammered like you. Every day

My clover plots are all dried up, I doubt they survive. My lawn is brown, my new well went dry. They have been getting rain to the east of me 40 miles, and to the south and north, it just seems to go around me every time. There can big a big line of orange and red hundreds of miles long, and 20 miles away it split and go around me, then reform. I may get a couple sprinkles, thats about it.

^^^ must be a lot of folks in your area getting a new roof put on and praying for no rain. You need to get them all lined up to do that all in the same week every other week!

We had 3 inches last week that saved us for a while, it was getting to extreme drought. The rain helped, but nothing in the forecast for a while now.

That was our situation last summer, rain would come through once or twice per week and split and go around my area.

I carried a lot of water last year, this year we are getting rain for an hour or so nearly every day. I haven't had to carry any water this year but I know what you're going through.

I know the news outlets keep saying these are worst drought years, but we are nowhere near the Dust Bowl years in the 1930's. If memory serves some of that was due to mismanaged farming practices but those were the worst drought years in recent times.

I have been watering my apple trees about once a week, but I slacked off. It’s been a couple weeks now, I should probably give them water. But it is a half day job, and I always have other things going on. I have around 30 trees, and most are 7 years or older. Except for the replaced bear damaged trees, and I have been lucky if I get 3-5 trees producing. I keep saying hopefully next year. Maybe it would be a blessing in disguise if they all died, I would turn the orchard back into a food plot. It was more productive then, and easier.

We had a half inch! This will really help

Might save some of my spruce. My newly planted oaks are mostly dead.

We got a second round last night and ended up at approximately 1.5". Our ground is gonna suck it up FAST! Nobody is happier then my back that we got rain. Last week I filled over 285 pails of water at a spring a few miles from my land and delivered them to the woods in my truck and then carried them to my trees. It was 3 grueling and brutal days. I'm sure the bears are going to flip all my buckets over now that we got water.
