Bedding area

S.T.Fanatic

5 year old buck +
My wife and I are looking at upgrading our "bedding area" I have done plenty of looking online and reading reviews but cant get myself to believe any of them.

My question is this. Who has bought a new bed in the past 5 years, what bed was it, and what did it cost?

Thanks in advance.

We have a King Koil which is very firm and even a model intended for heavy people. Lucky that we both prefer firm. It was around $1k 7 years ago. Not fancy, but holds its form very well so far.

I have an Icomfort, was great for 5 years, then it went down hill fast after that. I just bought a cheaper Sealy and it feels wonderful after sleeping in the Icomfort the past couple years.

Just bought a Stearns and Foster about a year ago. Rockwell Luxury firm pillow top. It’s an unbelievable mattress as far as I’m concerned but it’s on the pricey side. This mattress is extremely heavy. I’m a believer you get what you pay for in a mattress. Some people would say it’s too firm and it takes a week or two to get used to it. but, after the break in period it’s just right. 2 twin XL’s make up a king for about $3200. About the same price for regular a King. We have the adjustable base on each side I had a good mattress before but wish I would have bought these a few years ago.

probably 12 years old but we have a tempur-pedic and love it. Around 4K if I remember right. Has held up awesome and I highly recommend it. For years I said it was our single greatest purchase, since re-placed by a pellet grill, and further replaced by a black stone, but still one off my favorite things.

It seems like they intentionally change the model numbers and names regularly, so as soon as you look at a consumer reports or something the model numbers are all new. I like a firm mattress. One trick I found is to sit on the very edge and corners of the bed when testing them out. If the edges are firm I find the rest of the bed stays firm.

I did just that. I found one that I didn't just sink down in when I sat on it. Easy to get in and out of. Now I only hope it doesn't take forever to get. The salesman said it could be 6 weeks but assumed we would get it much sooner than that. It is a "hybrid" mattress by Sealy.
