Anyone mushroom hunting this weekend?

I live along the MN/IA border. It looks like we're going to get a couple 70+ degree days this weekend. Would it be too much to hope for some oyster mushrooms to be out? Or perhaps the wayward antler?

Oh hell yea!

Things should getting good here in Missouri - really looking forward to mid next week.

too early up here, mayapples haven't even broken out of the ground yet.

I am gong to give it a try for the first time ever, We are in southern Ohio, and have had plenty of rain this week with one day near 80 degrees and a couple above 70 this week. What do you think?

Found a single beefsteak coming up yesterday in North east KS last night. Were so dry here nobody's finding much of anything. Good luck everyone

My brother crazy Marvin thinks he's going to find Morels in Southern MN today. I told him he's dreaming. Now, oysters... They might be worth a quick walk in the woods this weekend.

SD- I'm heading down to SE Mn to trout fish in a couple weeks. Hoping I might find a few then.

That's a wonderful place back in the hills in those trout streams. If you're going to be in the Elba area let me know. We used to fish a small stream over there where we did very well if you could make the first pass up stream for the day. I can give ya a rough idea of where it is. It's been about ten years, but I remember the basics of it.

It's so small though, if someone else already walked it that morning, it's about a done deal no matter how close you get. We'd cast small rapalas upstream into pools and pick up browns and rainbows (if we could get up on it without spooking the fish).

Went today. My 10 year old and I went and didn't find anything, but I took a few pics of the flowers in the woods. Wish I had pics of some shrooms - but no dice:(

We also set up a mineral block while we had the chance - this is my first ever mineral block so it is in a sanctuary area and I told my daughter to find a good spot. She asked me how to do that. I told her to follow a good deer trail and when another good trial crossed it to tell me and that is where we would put it. Well she found a dandy trail crossing! It's a trophy rock and I know there are other alternatives but with this being my first one I was more focused on "easy" at the moment. If the deer take to it I may venture into a DIY mix or the sort. The intent is for trailcam inventory and the like. I have no dreams of growing some monster simply because of one of these.

Well I couldn't stand it anymore. The rain continues to dance all around us but not a drop for us. My appetite for some fresh morels made me pick my first 125 of the year this morning. I selectively picked the larger ones and any small ones that were already starting to dry out. Lots of small ones left behind but they need a drink real bad. Rain in the forecast AGAIN for tonight/tomorrow so I have my fingers crossed!

Morels - it's whats for dinner! :D

Nice haul!!!

I'm salivating just looking at those.

I don't know if we've had enough good conditions to bother looking yet or not. I suppose it wouldn't hurt.

We got a little over 2in yesterday after a very long dry spell. Temps have been good and the time of yr is right so hopefully by next weekend we will be posting pics of big hauls.

I had a chance to pick a few more while turkey hunting this morning. I didn't have my mesh bag along so all I could carry was what would fit in my hat! :D

Not bad for taking a peak after a turkey hunt!

I'm jealous! Hope to find some this weekend if I can find some free time in the daylight.

Best beef I ever ate in my life was in a rural fine restaurant where they did a dish called " Medallions of Beef Tenderloin ". 3/8 " thick slices of tenderloin sautéed in a cast iron skillet with morels. The sauce was a reduction of the pan brown juices and butter. That plate was covered with tenderloin & morels smothered with that sauce. OMG was that a plate-licker !!! :) There's nothing like morels !!!

I have made that same dish many times(when I can get my hands on some fresh morels) only I use venison tenderloin(when I actually have some of that). Uurrrgh! Now I am hungry!:D
