Any plotting uses for baking soda?

My wife has a bunch of boxes of "old" baking soda. I had no idea that baking soda expired but the boxes have a 2005 "expiration" date on them. Who wouldda thunk?
I think the stuff is still good but she says to toss it out so I'm wondering...
Are there any uses for baking soda in plotting? Not interested in opinions about laundry, or other uses. I just want to know if I should spread it on micro plots, or add to herbicides or pesticides etc.
I'm tempted to dump in in my compost pile but I don't know if it's beneficial or harmful to compost bacteria etc.
Any advice?
Thanks in advance.
Tom

It will neutralize acid so I guess if you were looking to raise the pH level in something it would be useful. Not so much as a soil additive though, because I am guessing a couple of boxes is going to have minimal impact on a section of soil.

It hasn't gone bad. It's still baking soda. Just like salt is still salt even if it sits in your kitchen a while.

It will neutralize acids, but it just forms another sodium salt. I would not spread it on any plots or compost.

I've seen some people add it to homemade mineral licks.
