Any body else finding shrooms?

NEMO. Not bad for an hour and a half hunt!

Best I’ve done. My “participation trophy” for a turkey-less spring season.

Apples are blooming, it’s a good time of year.

Not bad for a day in NE MO! A little more than our 1.5 hour walk yesterday.

I managed to trip over a few in western NC this week.

These beauties are everywhere. (Polyporus Squamosus or Cerioporus Squamosus). More commonly pheasant back.

I found a couple handfulls on Saturday afternoon on a S facing hillside. It was warm over night and I bet that got them popping. I won't have time to go back out to look until Wed after work. The forecast still isnt great. We could use some warmer weather but there are some to be found nonetheless.

1st hunt of the year. Mostly small, dying elms.

Swat1018, stop it. That's the most I've ever seen.

Yep. I'm 50, been hunting mushrooms since I've been able to walk in the woods and I've never seen anything like it. 58# for the 4 of us in 2 days, and we left a lot that were falling apart. Some were still coming up. I'm half tempted to go back this weekend for more!

Ditto! Swat has been posting some amazing hauls and I'm envious.

Finding lots of Gyromitra, but I refuse to take a chance on them.

I've found a couple patches of them this year too. I agree why take the chance. It seems there is a lot of people that are eating them and saying they are fine, but I read articles that they have toxins that will just keep adding up in your body the more you eat.

Same here! I refuse to take that chance on something that might taste good for a few minutes. I'll gladly leave them in the field and go home to eat some cookies and milk. If in doubt, throw it out.

ID? Chicken of the Woods?

Dehydrated the smaller fresh ones. Used a cooling rack and a fan instead of a dehydrator.

We found about 3# in southern Minnesota on Saturday afternoon. These are early shrooms and with the heat we are going to get this week things should really be poppin by the end of the week.

I'll be in western Ontario starting May 25 for a week. Does anyone know if there are morels there? We will be at Little Eva Lake, near Atikokan.

If there is id bet your going to be to early to find them.

2nd time out. Again, elms were the only game in town. Guessing our season is winding down. May not look anymore. Probably got 2+lbs today.
