I have to order seeds because mine didn't fertilize. Since se Texas is a hot climate, would it be better to get chestnut seeds from a similar climate?
Thanks

I’d be more concerned about drop times or other qualities your interest in more than I would about finding a local seed source for growing zone reasons. That being said there very well could be verities that are better suited to your location than others and you are on the edge of their growing zone range.

Chinese chestnuts have a range of genetics and climate tolerance. If you can get seeds from trees local to you and know when they ripen, that would be the best choice. After that, you grow from seed to let nature pick. Starting more gives more chance of success.
