Another age thread

Wind Gypsy

5 year old buck +
Not many 2 YO let alone 3 YO up around my parents place in northern MN. This guy showed up and his body is way bigger than others. Any guesses on age?

I’m scratching my head on that one. No doubt 3 or over but some of those pics make me think 4 or over.

He looks 2 to me. Im farther south in MN but we have many 2 yr old with bodies and antlers like that. Maybe 3 if the nutrition sucks there...? Even the young ones look fat this time of year.

I'm in southern MN and also leaning toward 2. His body just doesn't seem to be long enough to be an older deer. Without a doubt could be 3 but...

I shot a 2 year old when I was 16 that field dressed 216 #. The DNR that took a look at him and looked closely at his tooth wear felt strongly that he was only a 2 year old. FWIW

I better stay out of northern states. I’d suck at ID’ing old deer.
That 3rd pic is what threw me. And I still say 3.

Definitely looks older in the night pics. Nutrition in general isn’t great up there. We didn’t see him until sept so don’t think he was feeding in our plots all spring/summer.

The 3rd pic throws me as well at first I thought 2 but knowing where he's at and the last two pics I'd say 3
