Age?

I'm thinking that this a young buck, 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 years old. He was smaller than the does he was with. Passed on him to let him grow.

It really depends on the area you are in. In areas where populations exceed the BCC, even older bucks can have small racks. Your pic does not show the body so we don't have that to judge from. In my area that deer would clearly be 1 1/2.

It appears to be a 1 1/2 here also by looking at the neck, looks like a doe with antlers. That look here in northern New York is usually a definite 1 1/2.

Dang, looks like a very familiar setting in that pic. I'd peg him at 2.5. I'm no pro though. I'm used to seeing the button looking eyes for the 1.5 year olds.
