3rd Year Running

5 year old buck +
This will be our 3rd hunting season at our 105 acre farm and this buck has been there the entire time. My first pics of him came after my first card pull a month after closing on the property. I started calling him "Drop G2" because he bent his G2 in velvet and it almost appeared to be a drop tine. Here's pics from the first pull at the property.

He was visible on our cameras in the fall, but I never saw him during bow season. Opening weekend of gun season rolled around and I saw him 200 yards away cruising a ridge. My Dad and brother were hunting the other side of the property the next day, sitting in a box blind, and watching the Packer Viking game on their phone when this buck stepped out in the field. By the time they got ready and the gun out the window he was about out of the shooting lane and my brother rushed the shot and missed which I was very relieved about, I didn't want him to get shot. I got pictures of him in the late season so I know he made it through the year, and a neighbor found the shed that had the G2 that was bent.

My hopes were high in 2014. We had loggers in during the summer and he never showed himself until September.

He was much more visible in 2014 on camera than he was in 2013. We had food last year, which we did not the year before.

Never did I lay eyes on him last year, but my neighbor missed him, and a few other neighbors had seen him as well. He was on camera all winter, and I was lucky enough to pick up one of his sheds.

A neighbor sent me a pic of him from a week ago. Hopefully we can get some better video/pics of him in the near future, and if somebody shoots him I hope I get to see him in person, but I wouldn't mind him evading the hunters and following him for another year.

Doesn't look like you found that shed :D.

Great looking doodle.

It looks like you have good neighbors that you are willing to share info with like that. If it was my neighbors and they thought there was a buck in my woods half that size, they would line up on the property line and wait!

I do have good neighbors. We share pics, sheds, beer. We started a co-op and it's a fun way to keep everyone on the same page and have a good time.

He's a great dog. I have him trained on sheds and he will search all day. He's good with pheasants and retrieving too. Any experience if a doodle could pick up blood trailing? I'd like to try it. Being able to bring your dog with while tracking would be a lot of fun.
