Found my first shed here in southern west-central KY (Christian Co.), yesterday, while on a walk around the farm... spike had dropped one side in the levee road. But, I'm seeing mature bucks in the wheat/rye fields still holding theirs.

03/05/21 No sheds yet, looks like most of the bucks still have their antlers according to cell cams this morning. NW MN

Kids scooped up a few more. Cams showed most our bucks shed by the 1st half of Feb this year. Bethany was pleased to get her 1st couple sheds ever.

The dead heads hurt.
The one on the top had to be a car hit based on location. And they do kill each other once in while, it’s not always a bad shot.

Found this dead head today. Based on location I believe it may be the buck shot by a neighbors, uncles, friend that I wouldn’t let track across me. They would have never found it. 2000 yards in a straight line from the shot, in switchgrass.

If it is that buck I’d say the sun shrunk 40 inches off a 160 class buck. I’ll email the pics and see what they say.

I put quite a few miles on this weekend and only had one yearling 4 pt side to show for it. If the new renter wouldn't have put my North plot into crops I believe that would have been enough foot to hold them until they started dropping. I will be pounding in some posts this spring so that they know not to plant it.

Yeah definitely do that. This turnip/rye plot was responsible for us getting 15 sheds this year, and helping a decent sized group of deer get through the hard days of Feb. I don't typically go heavy on plot fertilizer, but this particular plot got taken out of a corner of our field this year and had a corn rate of uan solution on it. Really exploded in growth. Kinda the tonnage debate going on in another thread. Needless to say we were glad to have it! Deer were in the plot 24/7 during the deepest snow.

That's a nice 5 point. What do they rub to make those black spots? I've found a few over the years with black spots like that. Bummer about the rack. Will be interesting if he claims it. I imagine he will. Did he ever describe the rack? Can't recall from the original story. We gave a 140" 8 point to a good neighbor a few yrs ago. He had described it well, and that was good enough for us.

didn’t even notice those black spots til you said it. I’ll check them out further.

He didn’t describe the rack just said it was wide and once he decided to shoot he stopped looking at the rack. Which is smart.
my son was in a stand 200 yards above where he shot in the morning and saw this deer head that way. Guy shot it that afternoon. It’s his deer. If he doesn’t claim it, it’s because he thought it was a 160 incher :). It’s his deer. I hope he takes it.
