    High fence deer farm review

I love to read Google reviews on things. This is one for a high fence deer farm “hunting” trip. Sounded like a good time! I made a reservation for my wife and I in January for a "hunt getaway" for October of last year and throughout the correspondence I realized the now owner was still...

    Easements

I have an easement across a part of my hunting property in Wisconsin. It’s just an ingress/egress easement that goes with the property it serves. Nothing else is stated on the deed like utilities etc, just drive in/drive out. The neighbors who use it have just started using it recreationally...

What is this guy up to?

I just got a picture of this guy walking through my property. Any idea what he is up to with that pole? The funny thing is that he is on his way out and I didn’t see him come in.

    Popple regeneration

Does anyone have any tips on regenerating popple stands? I was told by a forester that if I so desired I could cut down the other trees in the general area of a small stand of popples (8-12 trees) and they would regenerate without having to cut the few I have left down. Do you need to have...

    Liquid Fertilizer

Does anyone have any experience with the liquid fertilizers marketed for food plots? Do they work as claimed or is it just another thing to market and sell? I’m looking at using them on my clover plots.

Does anyone know of a source to buy dogwood cuttings?

    Shot for Hope

I just want to put this out there so people would be aware of an organization that has been taking kids with life threatening or life altering conditions on the hunt of a lifetime. The name of the group is Shot for Hope. Kids have gone on fully guided deer and elk hunts with no strings...

    Itasca Greenhouse plug planting tool

I bought the plug planting tool that Itasca Greenhouse used to sell years ago. It's not beneficial to order through them anymore seeing as they are not dealing in smaller quantities. I'm going to try North Central Reforestation. I can't remember what size plug the special tool was made for...

What cutting would make a good residential screen?

I am looking to build a screen in my backyard in a residential area. I have planted and absolutely love my hybrid poplars but my only concern is how long they will last and how strong they are. The ones have grew fast and I am happy but I could see how they could be brittle once they hit 60-80...

    Spraying question

Im a complete novice at spraying fruit trees. The pesticide spray I have been using is Sevin and I think I'm right on with that. The only fungicide I found was Daconil and the directions were very scetchy at best if it worked for apples. What's best and easily obtained locally?

    Cutting question

If I start some cuttings in my yard in pots to try and get them off to a good start, how could I store them during winter? I really don't want to plant them at our property in the fall. It would be much better to do it in the spring.

    Soil tests

Where does everyone do their soil tests? I don't need anything fancy. I am in northwestern Wisconsin.

    NRCS and the EQIP Program

Has anyone had any dealings with these programs? I read a little about the DMAP program and the NRCS was touched on. It sounds like the Ruffed Grouse Society is lumped in with it as well with the forestry programs. What is a person getting into? What is good about the program? What is bad...

    Conifers for wetter areas

I am in northwestern Wisconsin and am wondering what others have had success planting in wetter areas. Not necessarily swamp, but lower areas. I red white spruce can tolerate these areas.

    Storing a solar fence charger

Is it best to store a solar fence charger outside all winter to keep charged in a safe place or inside. It seems like any time a battery sits unused it goes dead on things. I was just curious what everyone does.

    Amateur hour

Has anyone else noticed that the first weekend of November rut hunt is becoming a joke. Every deer camp is opened up and people are doing everything imaginable. In my neighbor hood the guys with the nicest properties start cutting wood, riding ATV's, firing up the generator and hunting. I...

    When to pull the plug.

I was curious how many of you have sold a property to get away from bad neighbors? I have neighbors that are both intentionally and unintentionally disruptive. When they are around the deer shut down. We have decent numbers with decent size but you can't get them on a weekend. It's funny...

    Red Osier Cuttings

I have grown ROD cuttings in my yard at home where I can water them as much as needed. The ones I have tried to plant at our camp have been more problematic. I tried black plastic but without enough rain it's hard to get them to take off. My question was if any one has tried planting a full...

    Entry and exit strategies

How does everyone go about entering and exiting their small acreage properties? I've read all about perimeter trails, screening cover and having a four wheeler drive in and get a guy. I know all of that works but when we are talking about 40 and 80 acre parcels and hunting them by your self...

    Source for Dolgo Crabapples

Does anyone have a good source for Dolgo Crabapples? I would prefer a local Wisconsin/Minnesota source. I see a bunch of places online to order them but I want to know exactly what I am getting before blindly placing an online order. Has any anyone had luck planting the smaller 16-24" size...
