    Loss of a legend

It is with great sadness I share that Chainsaw, A.K.A. Dave passed away yesterday after his battle with cancer. Dave was a friend and a mentor to me and I will forever miss him. Dave thought about deer and habitat 365 days a year. His passion is not duplucated by many. He resided on his...

She has hunted with me every weekend since mid October except one. Sightings have been limited and I was worried she was loosing interest. Lucky for me she still thinks Dad is cool to hang out with. When Chainsaw invited us for a hunt we got very excited. Up at 4am, we made the drive up to be in...

    Apple borer

Finally found the mystery cause of death for two of my trees. As my luck would have it was my best two growing trees. A wolf river, and Viola crab. Both trees had 36” of screen on them. The borer went behind the screen. This is the third tree I have lost to these bastards. How do I stop them.

    Jewel Weed...

It seems every year at this time deer disappear from my plots. I always forget about Jewel weed. I have acres of it around me, it grows in every wet area. The browsing is unbelievable on it. Has anyone else experienced this. Could a common weed take over a deer's diet to the point plots are...

Any thoughts why this is happening? It happens every year on most of my old apples. The new growth comes out then just dies. The trees appear to be in good shape and this one is loaded with apples.
