Osage orange 🍊 hedge apple for wild life?

I had no idea! Seems a little crazy to me, but I could see a lot of bark buildup around the door that could lead to external fires. I'd love to have a wood stove but the wife would go crazy thinking bugs were getting in the house with the wood.

    Blue Hill Nursery Sale

With all the warm winter weather I emailed and asked Blue Hill to ship them a couple weeks early if it worked for him. Worked out well and got them in mid march instead of April.

    Respirator for Habitat work?

Do not use a N95 for chemicals! They are for particles, i.e. dust, although they will stop a large droplet from hitting you in the mouth. Get a 3M like @omicron1792 posted and get the appropriate cartridge.

    Native Hunter Apples 2023

Looking forward to your results. I just planted a Hewe's from @Turkey Creek this spring and the history of these old apple varieties is quite interesting.

    Frost & Pears

^ You might be surprised. I have an asian pear that looks like it has a ton of blossoms starting today, and we hit 19 a few nights ago. If they were already flowering, that's a different story! Hopefully some survived!

And this is why we are careful with fire…

Glad it turned out okay! Fire can be so humbling, as when things go bad there's nothing a little homeowner sprayer can do. Wind can, and will change intensity and direction in a short period, and if the humidity and dew point is low, it seems like you can't put out anything for more than a few...

The Land of Milk and Honey

Some idiot thought today would be a good day to burn. I guess 20+ mph winds didn't seem that bad 😠 They had to close the highway when it got away, jumped the highway and started burning the other side.

Glad my pears don't look like that! It hit 19 last night here, so anything that flowered is hosed. Luckily, not a lot of flowering, but I'd guess still a freeze left this year as it's still early. We've been cutting asparagus already instead of it getting frozen off. Crazy early for that!

The Land of Milk and Honey

Nice night for it with some FINALLY calm winds. Saturday also looks good, but I think I'll punt for this year.

Two topworked Callery Pears after one year

I thought the same thing until this callery with grafts got ripped up-lol. It was even tucked a little into a thicket. Had to put some t-posts in front of it to stop the rubbing.

    Catscratch House and Habitat build

Interesting. I've never seen gabion rock setups used for corner posts. Neat idea!
