    Dog Freedom

My chocolate lab has to be within my eye sight or whistling distance. He was taught that at a young age. Plus he knows not to cross fence lines to our neighbors. I've probably slapped his ass 10 times in six years. Those just to get his attention. Last Sat. morning I was catching up on some...

What happened to my apple tree

x2 caterpillars. Every October I have to keep my eyes open for them. Only tree that got hit this year was a sawtooth in the front yard. Won't kill the tree. Just defoliate it. Should bounce back next year.

    What killed this limb?

I blamed my nephew and friend when they were kids because I found an oak tree with similar marking on a broken branch. But believe it or not it was the wind. I've have since noticed hundreds of branches missing from smaller trees with the same kind of markings.

    Oak Polination Questions

I have a swampchestnutt oak all by its lonesome. Its been that way since we planted. What I mean is there is no other SCO near this tree. Trust me I've looked. Although there are 1000's of other oaks nearby. (only red oaks and saw tooth.) After thought" property has several dozen post oaks...

    Silver maple????

We have a large one 20yrs down here in Texas. Beautiful tree. No problem with dropping branches but its probably not at the age yet. One negative thing. We really have to slow down mowing because of the roots. They are everywhere above the surface. They will throw your back out on a riding...

I ordered around 30 seedlings that I was going to split with a buddy, but I received around 60. So ended up planting 30 this past winter. The place I ordered from slips my mind right now, but it was from a tree farm in Florida. Great customer service. Not big on internet but great on the...

Burning a small patch of the property

This was 2 weeks before I discovered the hornets. Perfect day for a control burn. The burn went extremely well. The last pic is back at camp looking to where I burnt. This was about an hour afterward in the evening close to darkness, but you can’t tell from picture. Enjoy @
