^^^ Hedge is about the only wood I use for the wood burner. If it doesn't spark when I drop the chain into it then it's not old enough. And yes, it tends make you bleed a little.
Got into some great crappie tonight! Lots of 10's, but quite a few 14-16 incher's! Not sure if my management efforts are paying off or if I just got lucky tonight.
I've seen deer eat the apples very late in the winter when other food is gone. Also have watched a lot of button bucks eat them. No clue why that seems to be the case.
Their leafs are highly preferred in the fall. They vacuum them up right after they fall.

I've had small sawtooth's grow back. My dad had a large sawtooth get struck and look like yours. It kept on tickin and producing acorns. I was shocked!
Bingo! My place mirrors what you just described; pears are past blossom, persimmons are just starting to show signs of life. I'm right on the edge of our persimmon range so they aren't a slam dunk for me, but they are worth a shot.
