    Raccoon trapping

I have trapped my place and the neighbors very hard for two years. I've lost count but have taken over 70 raccoons. I now have turkey polts, bunches of rabbits and even quail are rebounding. Most don't think about the havoc coons play on rabbit nests, but they will dig them out and eat the...

Tar River SAYA-507 No Till Drill

I made a small mod to my 505 which is equally applicable to the 507. Sometimes I am short on seed, or I may be strip planting, or replanting where I had less than stellar germination. I made a mod to the rear box which takes about one minute to install or remove, The seed cup pull straight up...

    Bad Shot

Jack, since you teach IBEP, do they still require you to travel all over the state to teach and will not reimburse you for even a meal? I taught for 4 years and hit burnout. I did it for the love of bowhunting but it started to turn me away from bowhunting so I bowed out. Hopefully Virginia...

    Cockle burr problem

I have a major problem with them also. I think next year I will leave 1/2 the field fallow a spray a couple of times and keep it mowed. I hope I can kill them on that half then rotate to the other half the following year. This will allow me to also spot spray the plants in the non-fallow...

Tar River SAYA-507 No Till Drill

I've done it that way also. I've also used a electric impact wrench with the socket. In my feeble mind keeping the basket moving at the same rpm for the 26 revolutions should give you a better calibration, but thats just a guess. After all, we are dealing with early 1900's technology. When I...

Tar River SAYA-507 No Till Drill

After calibrating, and before drilling, make sure you lock the calibration handle with the screw, and tighten the nut. If you don't lock it, vibration makes the calibration handle move in the "close" position, which reduces your seed output. Its a real bummer.......

Remove the rear step plate, step over the basket and sit on it.. Then you can pull the spring up with left hand, and remove pin with right hand.

    One ugly deer…

I agree with Robert86. It looks like she is taking a step and the rear leg is folded.

    One ugly deer…

She looks old enough to vote, and probably smarter than alot of our voters.

Tar River SAYA-507 No Till Drill

I've added spring preload and added physical weight without much appreciable difference. If you have uneven ground the preload is very important to maintain the depth of planting.

Tar River SAYA-507 No Till Drill

OK guys I am selling my Tar River 505. It just will not no till in this clay reliably. I would have to till, then drill, and if I have to do that I have a 70yr old JD Van Brunt with 13 drops I can use, and have the JD71 no till with 3 planters and can add a 4th. I am disappointed but I...

Tar River SAYA-507 No Till Drill

I noticed in older Tar River Youtube videos the drills had a roller on the rear instead of the spring loaded fingers. I think I would rather have the roller. It must have been cheaper to produce the fingers. Foggy your field looks great. Did you till or no till? I tried to re plant my...

Rotate the two handles Counter Clock Wise (CCW) to lower the disc openers.

Tar River SAYA-507 No Till Drill

CCW lowers the disc openers for more penetration. I moved the pin on my seed openers to add spring pressure. My land is not smooth as a babies butt and adding pressure seems to help when traversing small dips and divots.
