Damn Washita Ranch

Cool projects! I will be following this thread. The live stake willows are interesting. I also have a river on one of my farms and this might be an erosion control tactic I could use!

Already planting beans?GFreat looking willow stakes

Had no idea there was an elk herd down there. Cool!

That's awesome. Can you draw an elk tag down there?

There are 5 tags for SE Oklahoma. Season lasted for 48 hours. My buddy killed a spike. I will be petitioning the game commission for more tags to better mange this herd. Up to about 200 head now

Really looking good down there,It was mentioned about the cabling trees to prevent bank erosion it helped for awhile and can do alot in the right instances. My other tree washed out and I lost 5 years of work in one night.I know farmer used to chain car bodies and that really helped.I might do some stakes like yours with the matting under it.There is a big raffle for an elk hunt on the Oklahoma website and I bought some tickets awhile back.I am pretty lucky on tag raffles, won a Colorado moose tag awhile back. How far are you from Pushmataha county?

Do you still have commercial fields? Could you shoot one for crop damage?

Carter county is Southwest of Push. No crops just my food plots getting wiped out.

I went on my first deer hunt at Antlers, thats where my family is from. Back then there wern't many deer I think the only one I saw was the one I missed. It sure did ignite a addiction.I bet it is a pain to have that many elk but it's kind of cool.Do they shed on you also.
