What a tale. My son took the semester off of college because Covid made the rules crazy. He stayed at his summer Job but talked them into 4 weeks off. He usually only gets about 4 to 5 days a year to hunt.

this buck got by him in early September at 15 yards.

In the last 3 weeks he has had encounters with him archery hunting 10 times. Always out of range and it included a core area range shift by the deer of about 800 yards.

rifle season opened Saturday. Son caught him with a doe for about 3 seconds.

this afternoon the buck with a hot doe stood still for 3 shots. All missed the mark.

here he is running away after the shots.

His date must have really wanted some greens because 45 minutes later they returned to the same spot.

Never trust a she deer!

Congrats to you both!

that's a beauty. Congrats to him and more evidence your management is working.

Awesome buck. Hats off to the both of you for the hard work put in.

Can the neighbor track now? CONGRATS!

Bill ... congrats to your son. Sounds like he took a right time to take a break from the woke crowd and just go chase deer. Great looking deer and it sounds like your son had a great chase and experience!

nope. Sorry. one yes is a life time invitation

but not the neighbor. Neighbors uncles friend. If it was the neighbor we would have turned the place upside down.

Yep, like with a dog, no means never, once means forever.

Great buck! Very happy for you guys. Congrats to your son.

Beautiful deer Bill. Congrats to your son!

Beautiful deer and a great story. Congratulations to your son for sticking with it, this is a bad time turned into a great time.

Congrats to your son! That's a beautiful buck. All those encounters must make it even more memorable.

What is that on the hill behind the buck next to the cedar tree? Looks like a blind or something? Asking because I have some spots like that. I've thought about building blinds on the hillsides that I could sit behind when the weather is nice, but put a portable ground blind behind when the weather turns.

Great story Bill - my favorite part is the brilliant move by your son to take the semester off AND parlay 4 weeks off work to chase a specific deer. When we're finally out of this COVID craziness and he is a working stiff he can look back on this hunt and smile.

it was an old elevated box that was on the place when I bought. So full of mice I knocked it down and need to burn it.

but the deer pay it no mind. It’s older then they are.
