worried about cicadas?

Another major problem is the cicada eggs which will turn to a nymph that is laid on young limbs will fall to ground and feed on those roots for the next 13 or 17 years. I decided too expensive to try to net all the trees so I fought back with damage control. My trees last time was able to overcome the limb splits but I tried to go to war to kill as many eggs as possible to keep them from feeding on the roots for years. I know I at least helped. I found a chemical at the time listed to kill the eggs and I dug many out with a pocket knife. The split wood on the young branches will be obvious.
