Red deer this evening

Hunting with a buddy in western Norway this evening. Beautiful terrain and unseasonably beautiful weather.

We where sitting in some pines glassing the hillsides when I spotted her accross the valley about half a kilometer away. We went across and stalked in to about 150 yards, and he shot her clean through the heart.

She weighs 95 lbs hanging now without her guts, hide, feet, and head.

Nice, how does the venison taste compared to whitetail?

It's better than Ohio witetail, in my opinion. It's more tender and a bit more mild in flavor. They are more closely related to elk than other deer, as far as I know. They certainly look like little elk. The downside is that it's expensive, like everything else in this country.

Thanks! Salmon pics coming soon. Probably in a week or two. We are supposed to get some rain, which will swell the rivers. There is a good salmon river near here called Arna, and a guy I know caught a 15 pounder there last week.
